Don Johnson- heartbeat? Aretha Franklin- Freeway of love/pink cadilac? Pointer sisters? Patty Labelle?
There are so many to choose from. So many people tried to go new wave and failed horribly. What was the worst?

Natalie Cole did Pink Cadillac

The worst was Neil Diamond - Headed For the Future in 1985. That was just god awful LOL

But Aretha Franklyn did freeway of love (we're going ridin on a free way of love in our pink cadilac)

On a different note, one of the BEST attempts at a new wave cross over has to be Quebec singer Gino Vannelli. 'Black Cars' was awesome [:)]

Anne Murray released a couple of songs in 82 & 83 that sounded new wave, except it was Anne Murray...and it just wasn't right at all. I can't remember the names of the songs & that's probably for the better.

Billy Joel's Glass Houses really bothered me. It sounded like a "cash-in." I never liked him anyway, so I'm pretty biased.

I did love Linda Ronstadt's Mad Love though, as documented in a previous thread![:)]

Blue Oyster Cult - Mirrors album.

They sounded like a Cars wanna-be on that one.

Black Cars was a great song! I'm trying to think, if you watch vh1 you will see these lame people. I saw Patty Labelle the other night. Michael Jacksons friend- I always feel like someone is watchin me, Lionelle richie. Its so funny, I can just picture the managers. "just put on jeans, high top sneakers, and a huge shoulder jacket, you will be fine" Phil collins- susudio. Oh man, I must make a list.

Diana Ross did a hideous NewWave-esque album called "Swept Away"

Olivia Newton-Jon did an even worse hideous NewWave-esque album called "Soul Kiss"

and didn't Carly Simon do some horrible early 80's album, also?

The Carly Simon one was 'Spoiled Girl' from 1985

It was a minor succes. The single 'Tired of Being Blonde' reached #70 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart [:)]

KISS had a disco song? I remember the Stones and Stewart's attempts, but not Kiss

Blondie did it all.. pop, new wave, disco, rap, punk.. I'm still waiting for Debbie Harry to do a country song [:D]
