Not sure if there has been a topic about this or not, but here goes:

Who likes Gino Vannelli?

Gino is from Quebec, Canada and in the 70's and early 80's, he was primarily a rocker with sappy ballads and crappy love songs that heated up the Canadian charts. He didn't fare quite as well in America, but he did chart 3 top 40 hits. In 1984, he very successfully crossed over to New Wave with the album 'Black Cars' that launched the songs 'Black Cars' into the US Top 50 and 'Hurts to Be in Love' into the US top 60 (Both songs made the Canadian top 10, as did a few other tracks from the album)

In 1987, he hit again with 'Wild Horses', which became his final American hit. These days, he continues to record more crappy love songs. I like crappy love songs [;)]

SOME TRIVIA: Gino's brother Ross Vannelli was the arranger and producer for albums by the California Raisins. Their version of 'Heard it Through the Grapevine' was an actual hit peaking at #84 on the Billboard Charts in 1988 [:)]

Its coming out of that guys nose too...
That is awesome.

I do appreciate some Gino on occaision.
I havent heard black cars in a while..think I will put it on.

Whilst watching SCTV, they did a bit on Gino Vinelli.

I admit, I later downloaded "stop" because I remember it as a kid. In fact, I think I will play it now.

Yes, I love this site. Someone always seems to bring up some memory that I thought I had successfully pushed back to the nether regions of my sub-conscious. [xx(]

I remember liking Vanelli's "Black Cars" video because was he wasn't too bad to look at. All I can recall of the music was that it was pretty unlistenable.

Yes, yes, yes. Gino (played by Eugene Levy) spins around after each line and gets hairier until he turns into a gorilla.
Wonder how Mr. [i]Milli[/i] Vanelli thought about that.
