Lady Pank - Polish Band

Does anyone remember the Polish band Lady Pank? They had a minor new-waveish hit in 1985/1986 with the song "Minus Zero". They also got a little rotation for the song on MTV - possibly for just being a cold-war novelty. I recall vaguely liking the song at the time and was wondering if anyone else rcalled the song or video.

I've googled them and came up with their official web-site...but it wasn't very informative about their near-US hit. Many of the other sites were in...Polish - a language I certainly can't speak.

I remember the song and video (they were walking along a missile or something). I have always used Lady Pank as the most obscure band that MTV ever played (Goanna, Blotto and Dog Police notwithstanding).

I have the one album that Lady Pank put out in the 80's.It is very New Wave mixed with some Ska as well.A very underated album and group for their time,I would say.I also have their music video for Minus Zero, that I taped off of Night Flight on the USA channel years ago.

Thank god! For a moment I thought I was going barmy! Everyone I ever asked thought I was either delusional or a liar. Would LOVE to get my hands on a copy of the "Minus Zero" song or video. Unfortuantely I could find no mention of their only (nearly) US hit at their web-site. They are apparently still together and very popular in their homeland:

Hello im a little new on this forum

i'm a great fan of obscure Punk and new wawe bands from eastern europe especially the polands band

For me the Lady Pank is not the better polish group of the 80 it's a little bit too comercial form my tastes

But do you now Siekiera

Siekiera made this first records at this debute as a Punk band but with a great killing joke feel n dark instrumentations and really violent and dark music

One of their first single a really fast and dark

After a Punk rock debute the band evolution goes to a more goth new wawe evolution in their second Lp'

Their second Lp " nowa akropolia " is a greath dark goth Lp's singing in polish off course

I recommand this Lp's who's are officially rea realesed recently
in poland to all the fans off unkwnow new wawe and goth bands

Another great poland band are Krisis or Brigada Krisis
who are one of the first pioneers of poland Punk rock
movement

Brygada Kryzys! Wow! Thanks pilon[:D] That certainly jogs my memory! I certainly recall the name of this band, although I can't recall any of their music. I remember reading about them a long time ago.

Have never heard of Siekiera though and would definitely like to check them out. Thanks!

Hi! I'am a great fan of this group. And I have got this video in my PC. Try to visit their website now! There is an option to show it in ENGLISH, so you can read something more about them. :-). Maybe if you want to ask something write to me at donpablo@op.pl

Hey:

Just visited Siekiera's web site, and although I can't read Polish, I think they may be either frustrated dentists; or perhaps toothless. Take a look.

I remember Lady Pank getting airplay here in Utah. Liked 'em so I taped their song off the air. Still listen to that tape.

This video still cracks me up 20 years on (even if I thought it was filmed in Iraq for some reason). "Hustler" was my favorite from that album, though.
