Man, I love TG's "Hamburger Lady". Manages to be soothing and diturbing at the same time.

Our station used to have all those Psychic T.V. live albums and there was one in particular that featured a track that had Genesis just wailing "Oh nooo...Oh nooo" for like a good 10 minutes. It was this droning, poorly recorded live track and it was transcendent. anyone know what I'm talking about? Calling all experimental music fans!!

Do I ever. I picked up one of those live Psychic TV cd's used once, and tried and tried but ended up bringing it back. I've sat through some pretty tough music before, but that was TOUGH. I couldn't sit through it, even for the experimental value.

Compare those releases to "Toward thee infinite beat" or "Beyond thee infinite beat" and it's like night and day.

I agree on "Hamburger Lady". Electronically creepy.

... and I thought Einsturzende Neubauten and Suicide were tough to listen to[8D] I can sit through most anything, but haven't gotten the opportunity to listen to one of these live albums. All I have are [i]20 Jazz...[/i] and a double disc Psychic TV thingy. I like it all so far.

I never really got into Psychic T.V...I always thought that "Modern Primitive thing" was boring. I did like their symbol though. SleepChamber were a local band very similar to Psychic T.V. I went to a few of their shows, they allways attracted a fun crowd.

Only within the last year have I been able to sit thru a TG song. Now I really like what I'm hearing.

PTV on the other hand... TG would have been so much better if Genesis wasn't involved. For some reason the man just rubs me the wrong way.

A really cool song by Psychic Tv is Roman P. Love the beat and the lyrics. Are you free, are you free, are you really really free. Does anyone else like that song?

Throbbing gristle...Music to have nightmares by. Throbbing grisle hamburger lady was a classic.

On a similar side, I had a 12 inch by the "swans" ...Cops. It was actually supposed to be played at 33 1/2 and i didnt realize it. AS it was, it was a painfully long drone...once i realized i was supposed to play it at the slower speed...I just couldnt listen to it anymore.

Great song. It was used in a Volkswagen commercial a while back (and is on the compilation of commercial music that VW released).

I had the Nurse With Wound box set of "Soliloquies For Lilith" that was the same way. I dropped the needle in the middle of the first side and it was just a drone. Flipped it over and it was the same drine. did that with the subsequent records in the box and it was all the same thing. I ended up trading it away for something else.

As much as I love Swans, it is a drain to get through a full album of their earlier stuff. Ollie, that NWW box is worth some money now! I've always enjoyed it, but I love NWW anyway. If you think that's a tough listen, you should try Coil's "Time Machines". [8D]

TG is really tough for me. Which is probably why I like the ear-friendly "United." Both the original version and the dancey Psychic TV version. I like the lyrics which I always thought was about finding the perfect soulmate…

…and after learning that Genesis P-Orridge got breast implants, I saw another meaning behind this song. [:)]

Oh, but "Hamburger Lady" is truly chilling. Believe it or not, I have a hard time listening to that song from beginning to end because it scares me!
