Just finished this book by Brent Mann about all those mysterious song lyrics. Not just quick explanations but lots of cool anecdotes and background. Definatley a must-read. The first topic is Men at Work's "Down Under"...

I had never heard of Vegiemite til I heard that song. Not bad stuff, actually.

I better get the book so I can know what a hippie trail, kombi and zombi are.

Sorry for the teaser Egg...

Kombi: Kombination = VW Minibus in German slang or Kombi for short
Hippie Trail: popular hippie destinations
Zombi: potent cocktail of Pot and PCP

Speaking of "Blinded By The Light," I found out the other day reading a website dedicated to that off misheard song that there's actually a term for that...mondegreens. go figure

One of the funniest skits I've ever seen was from a short-lived series called the Vacant Lot (similar to the Kids in the Hall). It's all about the Blinded by the Light lyrics - the most misheard lyrics of all time. I still crack up when I read it:

http://www.unoriginal.com/tvl/blinded.html

Here's a snippet:
Nick: [singing] Blinded by the light, held up like a loufa by the foreman of the night...

Vito: What the hell was that?

Nick: It's that song, Blinded by the Light.

Paul: Yeah, we know what the song it is, but what were *you* singing?

BTW egg-roger, have you actually tasted it?? Simply foul! [xx(][xx(][xx(]
