I have two very different sounding albums by these New Wavers.The first album entitled "Current Events" The second one was called "State of Shock" and they were both on Capitol Records.Both albums are worlds apart from each other.The first one was a little less New Wave sounding and had more of a Power Pop/Bubblegum feel to it,with some New Wave thrown into the mix.From their "Current Events" these are the song titles that I remember liking.

Anyway(Kind of has a Bay City Rollers feel to it if I remember correctly which isn't bad) Heck,even Joey Ramone liked The Rollers alot,and so did a member of The Sex Pistols,but that member was thrown out of The Pistols,once that became known.But then again Nick Lowe also was a big fan of them too.

Going To The Movies(Again heavily Bubblegum influenced)
Plastic Sound (Ah and their most New Wave song on this album too)Very Cars sounding.Excellent

Now on their "State Of Shock" album which is definately all New Wave all around,and a totally different style than their first album.These are the songs that I like from this album.

When The Night Comes Down
Go Now(Yes this is most definately a cover of The Moody Blues hit from the 60's, and sounds so different and totally New Wave,and very much more upbeat than the original version.Cool version.
Another Knife In My Heart
I Just Keep Crying
Side 2 becomes more Cars influenced, and it just keeps on getting better as it goes along.

Rocket Ride
What I Need( The Cars sound all the way and they have it down pat)
Building Buildings( My favorite song on this album and very danceable and Cars sounding once again)Great rare stuff.

I reccomend both of these albums to anyone that likes very rare and obscure New Wave artists.Granted both albums are going to be very hard to find,but whatever you do,please don't give up the ship.

I'm well aware of The Elektrics! Definitely one of the unheralded bands of the New Wave. Like you, I didn't like the first album as much as the second, as the first sounded a bit well, for want of a better word, indistinct. The second album, State of S

WPST in Trenton used to play the Elektrics' first album a lot. I bought the first one at Crazy Eddie's for $3.99. I remember liking it a lot. Just recently purchased both LPs off of eBay for less than $6 total.

... Have both of those albums & liked them both.
Saw them a few times too, they used to play often in the NY/NJ area back then.

I bought their album on a whim since I thought the cover was nice and 80s looking. Eh, too rockabilly for me, I was hoping for more.
