Next New Wave Song To Be Remade

New Wave songs are constantly covered by today's artists. No Doubt's cover of "It's My Life" comes to mind, as well as the older cover that is "Blue Monday" by Orgy.

Which brings me to my question: which New Wave hit is primed to be the next Top 40 single for a burgeoning artist?

Foo Fighters covered both "I'm In Love With A German Film Star" by The Passions, and "Sister Europe" from the Psychedelic Furs. (Thanks Waukena!)

Counting Crows redid the Psychedelic Furs' 'Ghost In You' and Frente redid New Order's 'Bizarre Love Triangle'. I'd like to see an emerging band cover Depeche Mode and hear it all over the radio.

I heard the worst freakin' remake ever today in the grocery store - I don't know who it was but they were attempting "Lips Like Sugar". It was simply horrendous.

No way - it must be. I thought it was just some moron trying to sound like Chris Martin. Well, looks like Coldplay has just gone from a group I mildly disliked to one I hate passionately:

Top 3 current shit artists:

1)Five For Fighting
2)John Mayer
3)Coldplay (congrats on replacing Puddle Of Mudd)

I think you should expand that list to 4 and move System Of A Down to the the #1 spot. Thanks.

That 5 for Fighting guy sounds like a muppet. I hate him.

I've heard that Paris Hilton is recording Heart of Glass on her new album. I'm sure it's going to win multiple grammys and finally get her the respect she so justly deserves.

If "offside" means offensive, then no - your post isn't offside. Trust me, you'll fit right in.

I just came from the gym and they had a hard edged cover of Personal Jesus playing on the radio. Was this the Marilyn Mansun cover? I heard he covered it.....

The recent BIG new wave cover I can recall was Out of Touch by Uniting Nations
