Good morning Mr. Egg...

For my summer vacation I went with my bestest friends in the world to the EAA Airshow in Oshkosh Wisconsin...

it was really fun and there were 1000 aircraft and all the people were really cool!

Then we went up to Washington Island off the northern tip of Wisconsin for a week...we did all sorts of fun things there too! We fished and drank beer and hiked and drank beer and went to the top of the mountain to drink beer and watched the sunset...and drank beer!

But please don't think we only drank beer Mr. Egg...we drank scotch and a case of wine too! [:D]

Oh, and I went to Niagara Falls...shit, where's those pics...oh heck, I guess for right now I gotta get an incomplete on my essay...(some things never change)...more later!

Remodelled the upstairs bathroom. No, I didn't install a magazine rack.
Flew to Phoenix then drove back to Utah w/ my oldest son.
Hiking/camping in the Wasatch Mountains, Utah.
Went hiking/camping in the High Uinta Mtn wilderness area. Got devoured by mosquitoes. I think I counted 200 bites on one arm alone.
Went to Boy Scout Camp near the border of Yellowstone NP.
Backcountry hiking in the Jedediah Smith Wilderness Area, Wyoming.
Spelunking in a wild cave in the Teton Mountains.
Auto touring thru Teton NP and Yellowstone, including shooting the rapids in the Firehole River.
Hiked "Angels Landing" in Zion NP. (Imagine a trail on a high, rocky ridge with 2000 foot dropoffs on either side.)
Visit to the north rim of the Grand Canyon, more thousand foot dropoffs.
Visit relatives in St. George, UT and LV, Nev.

Dude! That is a B-17G!!! 1000 planes! I am so jealous!

Damn! Do you guys have to have such perfect lives! Jeez! All I did was half finish my basement. I swear, next summer will be a no working on the house summer! Actually, I was well ballanced. I worked but I took my kids to the aquarium, coney island, amusement parks, pool, stuff like that. But nothing like you guys.

as a matter of fact, 4 of the 5 currently airworthy 17s were there...it's my favorite plane, I've flown in one. Of course the one I flew in 'Yankee Lady' was a no-show, the Yankee Museum was destroyed by a fire late last year and I'm not sure if they kept this year's schedule...though I think YL got out ok...but the Liberty Belle was there...

I was all tingly standing with them all and seeing FD fly over...oh, the other two were 'Aluminum Overcast' and 'Thunder Bird' (in the pic above)...I gotta get these pics sorted and post a thread...

I love ww2 planes! I used to work next to republic airport in farmingdale. They have a fighter squadren there. I am very close to Floyd Bennet field in Brooklyn. They have cool stuff too. Thats when planes had personality.

WW2 planes rule! I was so pissed off when I went to Mesa AZ to visit the Champlin Museum of fighter planes only to find that it has been closed and the planes sold![:(][:(][:(][V][:(!]

wow, I forgot about Sentimental Journey...Aluminum Overcast isn't airworthy, but it belongs to the EAA...Pink Lady isn't flying either...looks like there's currently 6 touring...

What was your fave airshow event?

I thought the jet assisted Waco biplane was the most twisted yet fascinating pairing of old and new propulsion technology I have ever seen. (I still marvel at the video I took)

Funny that Republic got mentioned cause Marv emailed me about the annual <a href="http://www.americanairpowermuseum.com/" target="blank">American Airpower Museum's 'Flight of Aces'</a> (Sept 2 thru labor Day) The museum has a collection of the following flight ready aircraft: TBM Avenger, B-25, C-47, Corsair, P-40, P-47, T-6 Texan, L-39 Albatros
Nothing like the sound of single and double row radial engines coming up to speed[:p]

I may take the kids over there and utilize my prior all access privileges courtesy of my former employer (Was Asst. Crash Fire Rescue Chief and Airport Ops. Supv. BTW[;)])

Maybe some of us NWO NY locals can have an impromptu get together?

Took the family (my wife and three kids) to CDA, Idaho for a week. Kids are too young to do anything fun like boating and jet skiing so we just relaxed and enjoyed each others company, oh, we did go to the Silverwood theme park 30 miles north of CDA, need to go back there some day when the kids are older.

What I did on my summer vacation

This summer I hung around a lot. I had to work because people are too cheap to support me. Some people say you should be self sufficient at 43, but I don't like it.

I had a week off in July. It sucked. It didn't do anything. A friend's house burned down and I had to help them do stuff.

This summer was very hot. It really sucked. I didn't like it. I did buy central air for my house, so I do see the benefit of being self sufficient and working, but I still think it sucks.

I got yelled at by a veterinarian. It sucked and I don't like them. To spite them I didn't buy the special dog food they recommended. I also tried to put a curse on them, but I don't think it worked, as I was the one who got bit by a dog this summer.

My mother came up for a weekend in July. It was fun. I don't see her enough. We had a big storm and a tree blew down in my yard. Everyone was happy about it except me. It was a nut tree and it made good ammunition to throw at squirrels.

I helped a friend build a deck on their new house. I found a bunch of toads living under their old deck. I thought I would rescue them, but all they did was pee on me for my effort. I didn't mind though, they're just toads.

I got in an arguement with our secretary this summer. I considered putting a curse on her too, but I figure just being her must be curse enough and I would leave well enough alone.

I spied on my next door neighbors alot. They argue very loudly all the time. If I stand in my bathtub next to the window I can hear them really well. I found out the husband is having an affair with his sister in law. I think that sucks. I would have put a curse on him, but then I wouldn't have nightly entertainment, so i left well enough alone.

As for the rest of the summer, I hung out and did some junk. I talked to a bunch of friends, and listened to some songs. I got drunk once and had a hangover. This summer didn't totally suck and I'm glad about that.
