hey, i missed out on the eighties, but i'm a huge fan of the music, fashion, etc. i especially like the button-down shirts guys wore. in almost every single 80s movie, they're wearing a button-down with different designs, patterns, colors. i never saw anybody wearing those in the 90s or nowadays. what brands made those in the '80s? and where can i find those type of shirts now (any brand still making them or any vintage clothes sites)? i've looked all over and can't find any. in case nobody knows the type i'm talking about, check out the link below. it's a screen cap from license to drive and corey haim is wearing one like it. it's not the best example of the style, but it's the only picture i could find on 'net.

I don't remember shirts being that different in the 80's, except they weren't ALL plaid like the 90's & today.

Try Aaardvarks on Melrose in LA.

I worked in a clothes store all through the 80's. They were RAYON shirts. They kind of felt smooth and loose. They were also a bitch to iron. Anyway, go with the vintage stores. But cool ones not army and navy type.

Wait, I just looked at that clip, you can get those shirts at old navy. They are just cotton button downs. They have tons. Old navy, gap, or banana republic.
