Clear Channel and their 20 song playlists are about all we have in Syracuse. They suck & that's why I never listen to the radio.

LOL...yeah, there's a news flash. I have always hated Clear Channel (the Wal-Mart of radio) since they crawled out of the mediocrity abyss back in the 90's. But I REALLY started hating them when they started doing all of those stupid "Freedom Rallies" during the buildup to the Iraq war. When people pointed out that they were basically spreading government propaganda, they were all innocent and wide eyed at the accusations. Meanwhile they contributed millions to the incompetent asshole's campaign. Oh yes, and the Dixie Chick cd burnings added just the right touch.

Morons.

I had a radioectomy a few years ago and I feel much better now.

Well, there's Galaxy Communications which is a far second, but they suck even more. That's why I invested in a broadband connections so I could listen to internet streams. As soon as i get a job I'm looking into satelite radio.

Infinity Radio is Even Worst. Where I live. They sold KFRC AM 610am to Family Stations. And They Just turn KFRC FM 99.7 http://www.kfrc.com/ into an Soft AC Cloned of KOIT 96.5. KYOU AM 1550 is am all podcasting? Where is hell is this Week in Tech http://twit.tv Guys?? And Now they want to turn their nearly purchase KEAR 106.9 into one those Lame FM Talk station. How about and all Alt. 70-80 Station anyone.

It was the Telecommunications Act of 1996 that allowed the large corporations to own multiple stations in the same market. And they've taken full advantage of it. It's partly why I left the business.

The problem is that everyone on this board cares DEEPLY about music and therefore probably radio as well. We seek out stuff that is adventurous and unique. The vast majority of radio listeners don't think that much about radio and couldn't care less about who owns or programs these stations. They probably just have it on in the background at the office or on the headphones during a workout and are perfectly happy with their KISS/LITE/MIX/JACK FMs. If no one listened they wouldn't make any $$$ and would be forced to change their programming. People like us have to seek out alternative sources for the stuff we crave whether it be college/community radio, internet radio, podcasts etc etc. With very few exceptions, commercial music radio is dead to us and there's little use in pining for the early days of CFNY, KROQ or WLIR. It ain't ever gonna be like that again, folks.

Sums it up beautifully. We're a small minority. A drop in the bucket compared to the ocean of morons out there who call in to request "Macarena". Sadly, they set the course for all of us.
