I want to put together a music compilation CD (not necessarily new wave) with the theme of suicide.
Any suggestions?

Not sure about suicide, but I do think Major Tom ODed in space...

I do too - a couple of my friends interpreted it differently - rape, loss of virginity, abortion, etc. (I have some morbid friends!) But I kind of liked thinking that she was singing about someone close to her dying.

Oh - Ode to Billy Joe - Bobbie Gentry - didn't Billy Joe jump off the Talahatchie Bridge? As corny as the genre is - I really love that song.

And when pray tell egg, would be an appropriate time to give this somber collection of tunes a listen? (hopefully in the company of others).

I know things really suck right now in many quarters but it will definitely change for the better.

Of course, on the other extreme, there's always Stormtroopers of Death (SOD) and their "Kill Yourself" song, for fun. It's about 20 seconds long and simply repeats the two words again and again.
