That you never really ever want to hear them again? There must be a ton of those New Wave top 40 hits that today you really never want to ever hear again? And I am talking about those top 40 hits that even today make you want to cringe,and say why,why do they still have to play that song still on the radio,and why do those 80's New Wave clubs,that have those 80's New Wave nights still have to play that song? I ask why?


Songs that are in this catagory that I would like to add are the following songs.

Tempted by Squeeze.I never ever want to hear this song ever again.Not that I ever really liked it to begin with,but when I hear it,after all of these years,it still gets on my nerves.And don't get me wrong because I do love Squeeze,just not Tempted.

Roxanne by The Police.What I should have said was anything at all by The Police I never want to hear again,as it would just suit me fine.Other Police hits are just as bad as any of their other hits.Only some are more nerve wracking than others.If I have to hear "Every Breath You Take" and another one of their worst songs of all time,the dreadful "Wrapped Around My Finger" I will pull all of my hair out,one by one.

Take My Breath Away by Berlin.First of all this song was never even remotely what I would classify as New Wave,and it just plain sucks period.No wonder why this was the song by Berlin to have caused them to break up as a band.If I was putting out dreck like that song I would want to quit as a band too.

Men At Work.Down Under and Who Can It Be Now.Take your pick.They were good songs in 1982 before the radio picked them up and played them to death.

Duran Duran-Rio,Hungry Like The Wolf,Save A Prayer,and Girls On Film.Ugh it's hit songs like these 3 that will drive a New Wave fan of obscure songs nuts.I have heard these enough times now,that I know that I never want to hear them again.And of these 3 I never did like "Save A Prayer" at all.Way too top 40 and way too slow.

Spandau Ballet-True-I have heard this song way too many times that I get a migraine when I still hear it today.Any other songs by Spandau was great but "True" after hearing it over and over again for the millionth time I say does anyone have an asprin in the house.

Kajagoogoo- Too Shy-I did like this song at one time,but MTV,MV3,and the radio really killed that for me.Way too overexposed and still is to this day on the radio,and on New Wave nights in clubs still.

Well, Cold Chisel have by some regarded as New Wave..New Crap more like it!! I never ever want to hear thier song Choir Girl..excuse my while I'm sick[:(].....[;)]

There are a host of them unfortunately. Many I've always hated, but certainly not all of which I dislike, but could just pleasantly live my life without ever hearing again:

Katrina and the Waves - Walking on Sunshine (always hated this damn song.)
EVERYTHING by the B-52's - blah, blah, blah (see my other posts)
EVERYTHING by Howard Jones - urgh.
EVERYTHING by Wang Chung - dung.
EVERYTHING by Spandau Ballet - should have been locked up in Spandau.
Tempted - Squeeze. I used to like this song as well, but so overplayed.

Don't get me wrong, these are still great songs........I just don't EVER want to hear them again because they've been so agonizingly overexposed.

"I Want Candy" by Bow Wow Wow--I never liked this song to start with and now I want to scream everytime I hear it.

I could also live a long and happy life without having to hear any Culture Club ever again.

all were hyped up and overplayed, and in particular, a few years ago when the radio started having "80's" nights etc., "I want Candy" got WAAAY overplayed.

i was a HUGE duranimal, but i never could stand those 2 songs. "Save" was too drippy and sugary; and "Reflex" was just plain bad. too discordant, too desperate.

In addition to being tragically overplayed, these were also the big "party" songs that all non-new-wave-lovers loved, which I always found rather annoying for some reason.

you are a very negative person, those songs are catchy and define new wave as a genre, if you don't like them then cover your ears

If so, are you serious? I was shocked when I read that. The question asked about the songs we are sick of hearing; I simply provided my list just like everyone else did.

I certainly did not mean to convey any "negativity" in my post aside from any general and gentle critique called upon by the question itself! (My apologies to anyone else who was offended!)

Having said that, I do not find your unpleasant and antagonistic comment to be in the least bit justified, nor, in my opinion, appropriate for this message board.

TBorg1987, no need to be rude. This thread has a negative angle by its very premise, so if you don't like someone's list at least try to be polite or just ignore it. Everyone's entitled to their opinion.

Actually, I agree with BeauBeau's list in that this is a typical corporate radio "new wave" playlist. Most of these songs are good, but I'm fairly sick myself of hearing these turn up on tired 80's flashback shows, when there are thousands of other great new wave songs that never get any attention.

Just flippin through some old threads and you can see how times have changed around here. Poor ol TBorg getting scolded for a comment we wouldnt think twice about now. Is this the end of civilization as we know it....?[:o)]

Most of mine have already been covered, but there's one that stands above all others:

"Don't You Forget About Me" by Simple Minds. I freaking CRINGE whenever I hear that song now, and unfortunately, I hear it a LOT.

I never liked the song to begin with and it's been played to death during the past 20+ years. However, that's not the part that really pisses me off. The part that really pisses me off is that Simple Minds had to record a Keith Forsey song and have that song featured in a hit movie in order to get this kind of airplay when they have a whole catalog of great songs of their own that have been more or less ignored in this country.

To me, this song represents everything that was wrong with American radio 20 years ago and is still wrong with American radio to this day.

I looked at tborg's profile and it says he is only 16,
He hasn't had time to get sick of anything yet.
All those song's are new to him-lucky him

I know this isn't New Wave but if I never hear
"Don't Worry-Be Happy" again
I will live a happier life
