I can't get enough of [i]Forever Now[/i], which is, IMO, The Furs' best album. It's got that swooping, atmospheric sound which just sucks me in. Love their earlier albums, too. But [i]Forever Now[/i] is always the closest to my CD player. "Love My Way" is in my Top 5 of all time.
Who here loves the Furs as well ? Let's hear it !

I love The Psychedelic Furs! I will always remember Richard Butler being drunk on some an MTV New Years Eve show and introducing his future ex wife. I will never get over the shocked look on the woman's face. I met him in person after a concert a long time ago and he was actually very nice. I saw him play again a few years ago at a Christmas party when he had Love Spit Love together. Love My Way was really nice done acoustically.

Great band.I started with Mirror Moves and worked down,although I think the last lp is stinko(can,t remember the name).I also like Love Spit Love.

I also love them. I like "The Ghost in You" the best.

I know exactly what you are talking about KYYX! I love that album! I used to play it over and over and over on vinyl. I love the Furs as a whole, but that is their best album over all! My sister is seven years older than I am and she was into them and I picked up that album from her. She was living in L.A. at the time, and it just holds a lot of fond memories of visiting her, L.A. and that time period in general (mid to late 80's for me). I would have to say that album is one of my favorite albums of all time! Probably in my top ten! ;o)

I'd have to list TALK TALK TALK in my top all time faves. It's simply the most psychedelic new wave album I've ever heard. It has the original version of "Pretty In Pink" (not the dull film version), "Dumb Waiters"
with it's purposefully out of tume sax, "She Is Mine", "Mrs. Jones", "So Run Down" and "No Tears" are all great , well, psychedelic new wave.
Almost neck-and-neck with their self titled debut, TALK TALK TALK is their most consistent release. Both raw and glimmering. FORVER NOW does have "President Gas", "Sleep Comes Down", "Love My Way" and the title track (all GREAT Furs tunes) but it's a bit inconsistent (as is Mirror Moves). Although usually overlooked, (as a lot of fans had given up on them by then) their swan song WORLD OUTSIDE is among their best. Just check out "In My Head", "Don't Be A Girl" and "Until She Comes" for proof.

I was just listening to the Furs this morning too. Totally love this band and I heard they still sound great live. Love My Way is a New Wave classic and is one of the most unique songs of all times. My favourite Furs cuts:

I'll have to weigh in with Forever Now. Not a bad track on it, and it's short enough to keep my attention.

I've got the 7" from Talk Talk Talk where you can play the sleeve, it'sa promo for the rest of the album.

I was able to catch the Mirror Moves tour in 1984 with Talk Talk opening. 'Twas a most excellent show.

Yet another band that instilled the NW genre with an unmistakable and unique sound that defied mainstream categorization/pigeonholing.
In NY, you only heard their tunes on WLIR or college radio.

Losing their original sax player (Duncan Kilburn) and guitarist (Roger Morris) was IMHO a huge loss. I've still never heard a saxophone player
who bends notes and plays beautifully off key and then bends the note back to being on key. Very trippy. As was the beautifully jangly guitar interplay between Roger Morris and John Ashton. After they left the band seemed to rely to heavily on thin sounding keyboards. Thus giving them a faceless, generic dated new wave sound. The wonderfully hard-hitting (but tasteful) drummer Vince Ely thought so too as he jumped ship before the FOREVER NOW tour.

I'm a big fan of the Furs, I saw them on the Talk Talk Talk tour many years back & they were great. First LP is still my favorite & there are a few of the later ones that I don't like at all, but I still find myself listening to them quite often.

This is one of the bands that introduced me to New Wave. I was hooked the moment I heard "The Ghost in You" - which is definitely included in my Top100 List.

I love all their albums, and although I agree with MonkeyTrousers that "World Outside" is among their best, I have to admit that I found it pretty lame initially. It didn't have the same impact as 'Talk Talk Talk' or 'Forever Now'.

Not familiar with their last album. After hearing about from here I shall pick it up.

Heartbeat is my most favorite of Psychedelic Furs songs. My FAVORITE.

All the others are really, really good too. But I prefer Heartbeat most of all.

Did I mention that I like their song Heartbeat?

I saw them in Dallas around 2001-2002. They played "the hits" and stayed with what most people were familar with. My main complaint is that the keyboard parts were either entirely sequenced or played back over the PA, as they had no keyboardist and the parts were stiff, mechanical, and didn't really add much. They were almost plastic-sounding compared to the richness of the studio recordings. That being said, Richard sounded great and I was glad I went. Much better than Peter Murphy's show that same year.

Has anyone here ever noticed some similarity between Richard Butler's vocal style and David Bowie? A friend who went w/ me to the show stated he felt Richard was a "poor man's Bowie." I see some similarity in terms of tone, but that's really about it.
