I'm surprised more hasn't been said about this new album here. I downloaded it last week after reading a handfull of favorable reviews and I have to say, it's really good. very solid.

Mac's voice has aged well and Will's riffs are on par with Porcupine-era Bunnymen. My only complaint is that Mac uses the same vocal melody in a few songs. Seems like they really tried to recall some brilliance a'la Bring on the Dancing Horses. And in a lot of ways, succeed.

Yeah, play "Stormy Weather" and "Killing Moon" back to back, and you can tell his voice has gotten a bit fuller/huskier. Not a bad thing, though - didn't stop me playing "Stormy Weather" incessantly, certainly.

Any other standout cuts for you?

Playing When Posted: Depeche Mode, "Precious"

I find the album really good. Not boring at all!

Some parts of the song "Parthenon Drive" sounds like "Bring on the Dancing Horses"... same goes to "Sideways Eight" bursting some similarities to "Flickering Wall" (from Ian's 'Candleland' album). Or is it just me? [:I]

Oh and yes, "Of a Life" mentions the line "Songs to Learn & Sing"

Also, I love the semi-melancholic appeal of "Everything Kills You"

Agreed on all points. Parthenon Drive is like Mac's "When I Was 17".

There's really not a track on the disk that I don't enjoy on some level.

I like it a lot. 'Nuff said.

"Of a Life" is my fave from Siberia. Their last album, Flowers, had some outstanding songs too!
