So who had New Wave 8 track tapes? Do you still have them? and what were the titles.

These are the titles I have in my possesion.

I am actually thinking of putting these on the market. Except for Japan which a paid a good some for on ebay last year.

I have some Clash, Dead Boys, Tuff Darts, The Saints, Jim Carroll Band, The Cars, Sex Pistols, Police ...... and who knows what else on 8 trk somewhere in my attic.

No idea. I still have it somewhere. I could probably dig it out and post a pic if anyone wanted to see it.

I don't have them now,but do have the mp3's on my hard drive.

Punk 8-tracks command a bit of cash. I've heard of Nevermind The Bollocks and the first Generation X going for around $50.

I once had a "Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass" eight track tape. Played real smooth in Dad's Pontiac Grand Prix ~1981. That's the only one that I can remember. They died a pretty quick death shortly thereafter.

My older brother had 8-tracks. I vividly remember him proudly installing an 8-track player in his old junker car. Naturally when he was finished installing it, he put his absolute favorite tape in. Suddenly horrible noises came from it and when he pulled it out, there was accordion-pleated tape all over his lap. I laughed so hard, I nearly pissed myself (we little brothers get our kicks when we can). Apparently he had hooked up the leads backwards. For future reference - 8-tracks don't play well in reverse! [:p]

As for me, I skipped over 8-tracks and went straight to Phillips cassettes. When I was 16 a friend of my aunt & uncle, who was a real audiophile, showed me how to record cassettes from vinyl like an expert. I bought a high-end tape deck, always used top-of-the-line hi-bias tape, set proper recording levels, and always cleaned my vinyl before recording. My friends always raved that my tapes blew away the store bought cassettes for sound quality. [8D]

I loved the way 8 tracks could double track and warbel. Had to wedge something under the tape such as a comb or matchbook to get em to play. Still to this date when I hear a song I used to listen to on 8 track I can point out the point where it should fade out and then click to the next track[:p]

Madonna's "True Blue" in 1986 had an 8-track. I actually have it.

I had a 78 Oldsmobile Regency that had an 8 track. The only 8 tracks I had were Van Halen and The Rolling Stones. I didn't know they made punk/new wave ones! Funny.

I had about a dozen.Graham Parker-Sqeezing out Sparks and Nick Lowes-Labour of Lust were the only new wave ones I had.I quit buying them after the 8-track player in my 70 camaro ate my Golden Earing live tape,which I think was only a few weeks old at the time.

I vaguely remember giving away Elvis Costellos My aim is True in the late 70,s when I was done buying 8track tapes.I remember this only because it had a bright yellow case and I gave it to a girl in a mustang whose name I can,t recall.So I must have had three new wave 8track tapes.

The only two 8-tracks I remember having were "Abba's Greatest Hits" and "The Great Lost Kinks Album" (got that last one at Korvette's for a quarter when they were clearing out their 8-track section). I think I disposed of the Abba one a long time ago, although the Kinks one should be around here somewhere, but I'm not going on a scavenger hunt to look for it. [:)]

I had some as a kid, but not New Wave. ABBA's greatest, [i]Grease[/i] and [i]Saturday Night Fever[/i] soundtracks, and I think Shaun Cassidy. One time in 8th grade (1981), I pulled out the contents of an 8-track, wrapped it around myself, and created a cardboard costume and went as an 8-track. LOL![:D]
