Rubik's Cube

Did anyone ever master this mind fuck? All I ever got was two sides. I knew some people who got three. And what about all those other puzzles the Cube begot? I had one that had chains on each side. I think it was called the Link? What the heck was the country's obsession with this? And how about those wacky New Wave colors. Did'nt they later produce Cubes in different colorways? Like a pastel version, an electric color one, etc.

I hated that damned thing. I literally tore one apart in frustration. I also hated the pyramid. I did manage to solve the snake, though.

I remember this one kid who peeled off the little square colored decals and rearranged them with all the colors on the right sides, together. He really thought he could trick everyone into thinking that he solved all six sides. Idiot.
Were'nt there contests? Like who could solve it the fastest? I remember seeing people on TV doing that thing at freakin' warp speed. I was like holy shit! I was impressed.

I like to think I'm very logical (with a sarcastic sense of humor) but I could never figure out the cube.

I still have one and to this day I still can't figure it out! I remember my friend had one and she told me not to play with it but I reassured her that I knew what I was doing. I didn't and when I messed it up Lindsay Buckingham's "I think I'm in trouble" was playing on the radio. I had no choice but to peel off the stickers. I thought I was so sly!

I knew several people who got the book and mastered the solution algorithm. I thought they were dorks. I once threw one very hard against a brick wall and enjoyed seeing the pieces fly all over the place.

A kid I went to jr. high with brought one back from Denmark (or Holland, or wherever they originated) in 1980. That was the first one I ever saw. This kid was a genius (litterally, a genius) and he got it figured out.
I never peeled the stickers off, but I realised very early on that the cube comes apart, and how to put it back together correctly.

I'm no genius, it didn't come easy, but I eventually got to the point where I could solve it. My friend happened to shop lift a whole case of them and sold them at the school for a discount price. I think we were the first non-nerds to have them at our school.

It took me about a month to figure it out.[:D] Also if you twisted it a certain way, it would fall apart. I remember it took longer to put the cube back together than it took to solve it normally.[:p]

I got it once, although those damn stickers really didn't stick very well once you pull them off...then I was left with a black cube...I guess that doesn't really count.

I loved fiddlng around with that darn cube!
I could easily solve 2 sides...only once did I actually solve the entire thing, by accident! I would actually get sore hands from fiddling with it. I never pulled the stickers off, but I recall taking it apart once when i got desperate.

i can do it in about a minute. after you do it a few times and get the method, then it is really easy. dont look at the six sides, work on the three layers.
