Enforcing The Eighties (on Altrok Radio, at least)

So, having announced the existence of the Altrok Radio web station here at the Outpost, and gotten feedback on it, I think I found a problem, and I may even have fixed it...
First, a bit of history: I wanted to run a web station that had more sense to it than an iPod on shuffle. So, I thought, why not have it be like a *bunch* of iPods on shuffle? So I set up separate lists for classics and current music, and also set it up so that older currents would turn into recurrents, and recurrents into classics.
Well, 88 new music add cycles later, it turns out the more recent classics start overwhelming the classic classics. Last Thursday was really egregious - twelve songs between Eighties cuts at times.
So I've fixed that. Now, a third of the classic picks are guaranteed to be from the eighties era. (There's a couple of "things we listened to a lot in the eighties that we liked in the seventies" in there, but it's pretty solid otherwise.) I've done that without changing the classics lists, so depending on how the picks go, you'll have no less than 14%, and possibly as much as 40% of the music being drawn from the Eighties.
Why not entirely from the Eighties? 'Cause there's people out there that do nostalgia way better than I do. I've been a new music DJ for twenty-odd years; no need for me to get complacent now. (In fact, the current indie/dancepunk scene being what it is, now's a *great* time for me to be doing this.)
What I'm hoping is that you'll listen because now you know you'll hear music you like, and because you're open to hearing music you *might* like. (And there's more of that this week - plus Paul Weller's new record wound up in the Grinder, and it's very good indeed...)
