Thanks for all your votes everyone. Even though I'm deathly sick of this (as no doubt are many of you) it's been a lot of fun. The bad puns, the allegations of chicanery, the bitching & moaning - it's all been great.

It's going to be a long time before I post another poll. I hereby relinquish the rights to the New Wave Survivor-Idol franchise to anyone who is foolish enough to want them. Unless, of course, someone figures out how to make some money from it in which case I INVENTED IT, DAMMIT!

Honestly I love The Clash and New Order as much as the next guy, but there is no shame in the Cure winning the top spot. Frankly I see the Cure, the Clash and New Order in a league of their own; the rest of the list is 2nd tier at best.

Thanks ScramJet, you did a fab job. I enjoyed it. Unfortunately there were some spiteful people who decided to stack the vote on one or more occasions. But overall I'm happy with the top pick.

I never noticed the stacking votes thing - but I guess I wasn't paying that much attention - my heart was broken when Blondie went out so early in round 1 & I never recovered!

regardless, you just made me think of something… what would have happened if Smith, McCulloch, Hook, and Strummer (ahem) collaborated? Would they create the most awe-inspiring music together, causing time to stop, worlds to implode, and all our existence to, um, cease to exist?

I do hope Joe and Ian Curtis are jamming together in another plane of existence. Rest in peace, those two.

If past all-star bands (The Firm, etc.) are any indication, the music would be decent, but not earth-shaking. I think maybe people who are already big stars have a hard time working constructively together for a long enough time to create something really good.

Remember the SNL skit with the all-star dead band? Janis Joplin on vocals, Jimi Hendrix on guitar, Keith Moon on drums... Can't remember who was playing bass.
