Blir presents an Off Off Off Broadway Production of a 2Nu and Waukena Musical: NTT LIR! We've recruited two wise sages who lived the LIR experience to come up with 25 tracks that range from '78 to '88. Big thanks to Waukena and 2Nu for putting this together. The game consists of guessing these song clips that appear in roughly chronological order. It starts with a Waukena pick that sounds fittingly like the beginning of a soundtrack to a formidable challenge. It ends with a 2Nu favorite that actually contains the voices of LIR DJs on the full song. Freaking brilliant on both counts. Also note that most songs are standard versions except a few local favorite mixes.

The game is on a 100 point basis - 2 for each artist, 2 for each title. There are 2 seconds of silence between clips. Download your response form below and email it to me for tabulation when you're finished (my email address is on the form). Make sure to put your forum screen names on your answers so I know who you are. I will send back the Answer Sheet right away to everyone who sends me their responses . Please DO NOT post your responses here!

Here's the link for the response form (my email address is in it):

And here's the song sampler link:

The game will run two weekends and end on Sunday October 15th at Midnight EDT. Answers will be posted by that Monday morning.

Well I just played this myself "blindfolded". I would've sucked!...maybe gotten about 8 songs and bands. This really makes me realize there were some big regional differences. I can't get over the overriding impression that this feels more like a FritzB NTT and a Blir one. I wouldn't be surprised if he and some good east coaster got some decent scores.

God just told me I'm on my own for this one.

Well that was almost as brutal as the KROQ edition for me. But what should I expect - I never heard WLIR or KROQ and none of this stuff was ever played on my crappy local Rock stations. I guess I will be bringing up the rear again. [:I]

No fritz - I think I know 2 or 3 off the top of my head. The frustrating part is I have a bunch of those songs, so many sound familiar - but just can't get the titles out![:(!]

Folks,

I'll give this one a little time to sink in before submitting it - I believe I'm already above 50, so we'll see how I do...

well, let's see...I got all of mine and maybe two of 2nu's...but I pretty much stopped listening to LIR in 86 or so...(I couldn't pick it up well when I moved into NYC from the Island)...anything much later than that and in a genre that didn't normally make it to my platter are pretty foreign...great, I gotta be the first moron in history to lose a contest I helped design...[V]

Which tracks are yours? I want to know which one of you I should be more mad at. [:p]

1,2,3,6,9,11,12,16 (I think, my head's spinning from this)...the easy ones...all the other totally diabolical stuff came from 2Nu...[:)]

edit for bump...needs more players...

Great NTT Blir!

Looks like I got most of yours waukena... so far I think I've pegged 2,3,5,6,7,9,11,12,14,17 & 24. A couple of others sound familiar, so I'll wait a few days to see if any come to me... as unlikely as it may be. I agree with your comment about not listening after circa '86... me too!

Easy now, that's Waukena's favorite role. [:o)] Actually you were far from the rear on the KROQ contest and your results on this one was even more respectable. I think this is pretty damned hard, but it looks like Dave and others might validate that NYC folks might actually find it to be up their alley.

Did you get my answer list Blir? I didn't do as well as I thought I would. I can't wait to see the answers because there are three songs that I know but cannot think of the titles! I think I only got 13 right. [V]

Join the club. I'm waiting for my memory to jog on #23 before turning it in. Because I'm already black and blue enough from kicking myself over "X-Ray Eyes." Luckily, it jogged on 5 other tracks that didn't immediately come to me.

And regional differences?! I live on Long Island, and I haven't heard a bunch of these!

Actually, some of the ones I don't know are remixes that I recognize; I remember avoiding them because they were so different than the original song. (And I remember the avoidance, and why, but I can't remember the song!)
