British pop star Boy George was arrested at his Manhattan home early Friday morning, allegedly for possession of cocaine.

According to police sources, George, whose real name is George O’Dowd, was taken into custody after officers responding to a report of a burglary at his apartment on Centre Street found a small amount of cocaine in plain view.

The sources say more cocaine was later found in the apartment, and police say there was no burglary.

George, who rocketed to fame with his 1980’s band Culture Club, has admitted in the past that he was addicted to heroin for year. He was also previously arrested for possession of marijuana.

The article I saw said "a woman in the apartment" said there was more cocaine around. I was more surprised there was a woman in his apartment.

Maybe it was his "cleaning lady"

BUSTED! Remember his drug addled interviews in the eighties? Man was he stoned - pathetic. I remember it was such a news story, Boy George - On Cocaine! Or the subject of his sexuality. My favorite was when asked if he was bisexual - I think it was by Ed McMahon - he responded "No, I don't need to buy sex!" [:D]

Reminds me of the story of the cleaning lady in Fields Of The Nephilim's hotel room. She called the cops because there were pounds and pounds of white powder in bags under their beds. Turns out it was the flour they used to dirty themselves up.

LOL! You mean like stage makeup? Now THAT I believe! I could totally see them explaining it to the police: "You know, it's so we look like we rode into town like outlaws, dusty and all… no, I mean, we're not really outlaws, officer…"

That reminds of another story about the Mexican industrial band Hocico. They got locked in the liquour freezer at a club they were supposed to perform at because the club owner thought they were illegal immigrants.
