They never seem to get mentioned around here. Yeah, I know all the reasons people want to "Knuke the Knack". They're manufactured, corporate, derivative, sexist, sleazy, smug, and overplayed (at least "My Sharona").

But still, for slick, catchy powerpop, they're hard to beat. Their playing is tight and the sound crisp & clean. "Frustrated" is an underrated powerpop classic. I also love their cover of Buddy Holly's "Heartbeat".

Anyone else here willing to fess up to liking The Knack?

Love the Knack. Don't know why they get ripped though. Maybe because they were sooo huge and people tend to turn on artists who achieve the quick status they achieved.

The Knack was killed by over exposure. The truth is that is was great power pop. I was 15-16 when it was released and songs like "Good Girls Don't" spoke to my juvenile over-sexed sensibilities like no other band. <img src="http://forums.rebelalliance.w

The one thing I can honestly say about the Knack is that thank god here came a band that was able to knock out "Rumours", "Saturday Night Fever", and "The River" from the number one spot on the charts! And it was wave!!!!!

Regardless of how much radio play they got, there are one of the greatest power pop bands of all time. I got to see them live in '91 (I think) at the 9:30 club in Washington D.C. This was a great little dirty club that rocked like crap!!! The Knack put on

I think I was there with you at the 9:30 Club, plan13. Great show, including covers of Jimi Hendrix' "Are You Experienced?" and Warren Zevon's "Lawyers, Guns, and Money".

Checked my ticket stub from the 9:30 club. The show I was at was from '94, when "My Sharona" was on the Reality Bites OST.

It very well could have been '94 when I saw them, I just can't quite remember. I can't remember who opened for them either.... it was either a horrible acoutic guy playing an acoustic that looked like an american flag, or.... the ever fatiful, and great,

I always liked The Knack, but never really cared much for "My Sharona". There are better songs on their albums, much more in the classic power pop vein, such as "Just Wait And See", "That's What The Little Girls Do" and "I Want Ya."

I'll have to do some more research to remember who opened for the Knack in 1994. Luckily, I went with friends, so it may still be possible to reconstruct. It was definitely (and sadly) not Adam Schmitt. Having spent six years in Champaign, Illinois and
