Hi, gang. The WFMU Music Fair is being held Friday-Sunday, Nov. 4-6 (it really snuck up on me this year, it's usually held at the end of November!). Anyone in the NY area besides myself going to go to it? More info on it can be had the WFMU website, www.wfmu.org. I believe it will be held at the Metropolitan Pavilion just like it was last year, on West 18th St. between 6th and 7th Avenues. I'll most likely be going Friday evening and Saturday, just like last year. Anyone care to make an NWOutpost event out of it?

I wish I could go - I went to every one when I lived in Brooklyn and emptied my wallet every time. I hope I'm able to go down for the spring version.

It's always held the first weekend of November, and I go every year.

I'm going to TRY to make it, as my life is extremely hectic right now. I'm writing for two publications and modeling again, plus I'm in the process of moving.

I'm going to shoot for Sunday, to me that's the coolest day to go because I love Bill Kelly's Teenage Wasteland show and he's there live.

It sucks that Glen Jones doesn't do his show at the record fairs anymore.

Does anyone know about the WMFU movie they are supposed to make?

Hey Skinny, you paying to go to the early session Friday? I might be up for that.

I'll be there Friday night; if you want to hook up to get in with the early birds, let me know and I'll see if I can get out of work early. I'm also planning to be there Saturday.

NWO-WFMU Music Fair Convocation #2 occurred last night, with Skinnytie, Blr and Schwenko in attendance.
Some fine acquistions were scored by all.
Skinntie picked up a Penetration CD, as well as a Nick Garvey cdr (MFV!!! packaging and all!!).
Blir found a promotional 2CD IRS sampler-amazing! This contained late 70s, early 80s tracks, including Oingo Boingo, Wayne County, Klark Kent and John Cale etc. As well as the Gleaming Spires LP, and Joy Division LWTUA 12 inch.
Schwenko bought a double album, remastered Pearls Before Swine E.S.P. disk CD.
The fair continues this weekend.

OMG, I left off the Flirts' 10 Cents a Dance. I think everyone knows "Jukebox" but I completely forgot what great SoCal classics "On the Beach" and "We Just Want to Dance" were. Bitchin'! [:D]

Yesa it is... it's on the "Message in a Box" 4CD compilation.

I also went back Saturday (sorry, guys), and got the following CD's:
"The Best of the Art of Noise" with the blue cover
"The Crossing" by Big Country (with the bonus tracks)
"Revolution Now" by Captain Sensible
"Like This" by the db's (but purchased for someone else)
"Get Out and Walk" by the Farmer's Boys (another MFV Obscure 80's release)

I think a lot of the vendors still weren't totally set up when we had gotten there, so it was worth the second trip.
It was great to see you both again, Blir and Schwenko; thanks for everything! Same time next year, I hope! As for the rest of you out there, hope you can meet up with us next time, but if you do go this time around, good luck with your searches!

Presumably it contains something other than the "other" color cover[?]

There are two different versions of the Art of Noise "best of" title, one with a blue cover that is sadly out of print, and one with a red cover that is readily available. The one with the blue cover has remixes, extended versions, and a different track listing than the one with the red cover. For instance, the song "Legs" appears on the blue cover edition as a remix entitled "Legacy", while the song is nowhere to be found in any version on the red cover edition.

No, both of them are single CD's, they just differ.

oh, and as an aside, my copy of "After the Snow" that I bought does not feature that album at all! Instead, the music is from a CD by various artists called "Handel's Messiah: A Soulful Celebration". This CD does not look like a CD-R or anything like that, so I inquired with 4 AD (the label that released this copy of "After the Snow") about it. Hopefully I can exchange it.
