Mareidol in another thread mentioned the Plasmatics.For some uncanny reason I decided to yank out some classic albums and jam a little before a game on tv.Any fans of Wendy out there ? Here's Lunacy:

I love the Plasmatics! The first LP is a classic & the others weren't too shabby either. Not real fond of the last one as a whole, but it still had some classic stuff on there. I think Richie Stotts had another band, but I have never been able to find any of their stuff.

I remember Wendy O. getting a lot of airtime on WPIX news (NYC channel I had on basic cable,) when she blew up a bunch of TVs, and of course her legendary Tom Snyder interviews.
Our local redneck AOR station even added Hot Summer Night to their playlist.
I bought a couple of albums - I didn't like many of the songs, but the ones I liked - I really liked a lot! I always thought Wendy was a very cool person & was so sad when she died.
She is from a tiny little town in Western New York called Webster which is near Rochester. I can understand why she was such a rebel!

I remember first seeing the Plasmatics on Tom Snyder's "Tomorrow" late night talk show in 1980. Poor Snyder, I don't think he knew what to make of them, but I remember he seemed a bit aroused by Wendy's get up. [;)]

The Plasmatics also guest starred on SCTV in an episode of John Candy's "Fishin' Musician." Great stuff. You can see it on Vol. 2 of the SCTV DVD collection.

I would like to see that video.I remember in 1980-81 era watching them on some show late at night.They as usual blew up a car and I believe Richie Stotts scrolled thru the audience scaring the bejesus out of them.

Richie Stotts post-Plasmatics band was called, simply enough, "Stotts". My first band opened for them in a shitty club in New Haven, CT way back in '88.

wow no kidding ! Does anyone remember when they formed a one -off deal for a show as a tribute to Wendy after she died ?
