Here is how you voted. I certainly did not except every act or band to get a vote, but some really did it, unexpected . The winner is Interpol. Thanks for your contributions and suggestions and votes of course.[:)]

Chemical Brothers have already released a greatist hits, so future promise?! [?] Garbage might be soon to follow. Coldplay is nauseating. Killers are fluff. Franz has just hit us with same-old same-old. Everyone else is just "nice" or not even next wave. Maybe Kaiser Cheifs depending on what they do?

I guess I'm most interest in seeing what these guys do next: BSP, The Strokes, The Stills, Arcade Fire, Keane, Dresden Dolls, Scissor Sisters...some others I'm sure I'm missing.

I really think British Sea Power is over-rated. [:o)]

Of the current crop of next wave, I think BSP shows the most promise, but I'm also smitten by Fountains of Wayne, but they are tagged with the "too close to mainstream power-pop to be edgy enough to be next wave" badge.

I agree with Blir, I'm not sure The Killers are worth all the fuss (no pun intended.) I think both the Kaiser Chiefs and Scissor Sisters CDs were better than Hot Fuss.

But I here Trapt has a new one coming out, and so does Screaming for Emily.

I voted for Interpol out of the choices given. The Gorillaz, Chemical Brothers and Garbage have no business being on the list.

Better choices would be any of the following: M83, Stars, Bloc Party, Maximo Park, Elkland, Moving Units, The Faint, The Rapture, The Bravery, Louis XIV, Futureheads, Cut Copy ... the list is endless.

My mother would probably like the Dresden Dolls because they are boring, unimaginative and completely non-threatening music for old people, one step below Clay Aiken on the relevance list. Besides, the chick is ugly.

I can't peg "unimaginative" on the Dresden Dolls! Now you're just being belligerent. Go say hi to Mr Hand like usual and take the edge off.

Oh, and I agree with motors. Chemical Bros and Garbage shouldn't be here...but I did find this cool next wave band called Faithful...here's their site!

I also kinda likin Action Action these days...they're like The Rapture only a touch more melodic, imo...

I would go with Futureheads,Soviettes,Clor(their terrific debut is full of quirky operetic synth-post punk tunes),Interpol,Dogs die in hot cars(XTC like pioneers),Fiscerspooner,Chicks on Speed and others...

The Killers fluff?

Well, yeah, like Duran Duran is fluff. The same way that 95% of all pop music is trash.

But that's also what makes it accessible to nearly everyone, isn't it.

There are only a few that could make pop songs with wide appeal that were also meaningful, transcendent and sublime. The Beatles, on their best songs, could do it.

But that doesn't mean the rest is not fun or without value. Just that the trash or fluff you like is a personal, subjective choice. Like your choice of food, car, clothing or favorite color.

That's what's great about democracy. We're all free to enjoy our own brand of trash.

I have to agree with some of the others--I don't think Garbage belongs on this poll. Garbage is one of my favorite bands, but they aren't next wave.

I gave my vote to The Killers. Love them.

Other next wave bands I really like: The Bravery, Interpol and The Rapture.

Waukena - Mr Hand is the guy that kept giving Spicoli crap (remember, "you dick!")

BTW, one write-in vote for Hot Hot Heat. Can't help it... I like my songs like I like my women... short and snappy.

I just discovered Goldfrapp recently. I'm glad they're on your poll. They have a song out "Number 1" that I am just loving right now. Apparently it's supposed to come out a forthcoming album. Can't wait for that to come out.

It's out in England/Europe/Japan already, and called Supernature. A US release is planned for next year ?Feb.
Number 1 is the most played song this week on my iTunes playlist. Very OMDish!
