.38 Special

I've been digging these guys lately. Not new wave, but definately 80's music on the power pop side. Any one else like them?
The songs I've been getting into are:
"Back Where You Belong"
"Like No Other Night"
I recall them getting significant air time here in Salt Lake. Their website describes their music as "southern rock" but I think their music is fairly diversified - "Second Chance" (power ballad) versus "Rockin' Into the Night" or "Turn in On" (more traditional rock & roll).

LOVE .38 Special. Mainly their hits like "Hold On Loosely," "Caught Up In You," and "If I'd Been The One," but the rest is pretty good too. It's one of those bands that I think you'd immediately play in a jukebox at the local pub. I actually have their best hits compilation here on my desk along with some Marshall Crenshaw and Cult. I'm listening to Suede right now, though[:I]

I used to work in a machine shop surrounded by rednecks...I heard enough .38 Special to last two lifetimes.
And not exactly a group I think of when I think of this board. What's next...Winger?
To each his own. [8D]

They are a very big example of the worst of 80s music to me. I really detest southern fried sounding stuff (well, I can stand a few early ZZ Top numbers I guess) but overall I lump .38 Special in with John Cougar and Bob Seger and other main hates.
Still, to each his own is right. I've had to come to the defense of plenty of music I enjoy and at times I can't even justify my enjoyment of it.

Come on Roq, if you've got nothing good to say, you really shouldn't say anything at all. I'm not saying a word.

I like them but don't love them. I like their hits "Caught Up In You", "Hold On Loosely", and "Rockin' Into The Night". I once got fairly stoned on blowby at a .38 Special concert in an venue with a low ceiling.

Yeah, I'm not a .38 Special fan by any means but far be it from me to slag anyone off for it- considering some of the songs on my hard drive. [;)]
Much like the Army I say "Don't ask, don't tell".

Jeezus, Blir, that's freaking foul!!! I'm laughing my ass off! So is this picture from the last NWO get together???
For the record, the picture represents my reaction to .38 special, too. No offense to red x red or anybody else, mind you. [:)]
Edit: Blir--What I find most funny is that you actually had this picture hanging around on your computer, ready to insert into a thread at a moment's notice. So what, you saw this picture somewhere and thought, "hey, I like that projectile vomit so much I'm going to save it to my hard drive"??? You're twisted, dude! [:D]

Sorry Red. I didn't mean it that harshly. I just couldn't pass up the opportunity. I've literally put my opinion out there thousands of times and taken literaly hundreds of bullets. They do kinda make me cringe though.
And yes Manekineko, I've had that pic waiting for quite awhile! I actually used' it on a broadcast email at my company when we launched a product that absolutely sucked. Caption read "First customer reaction to xxx". I like that the dude is wearing a vintage Hartford Whalers shirt! [:p]

I just assumed he found it by image googling ".38 Special".
