Do you mean can't NOW get on CD or were never released on CD, because the following from your list have indeed been released on CD before:

6. "Rainy Season" by Howard Devoto
Jerky Versions Of The Dream was on CD on Virgin UK - but is a major collector item now.

11. "Call Box 1-2-3" by Wall Of Voodoo
Forget if this is from the first or second album - but both were on CD and come up on eBay every now and again.

There may be others on your list that have been released on CD before too - but I'm not familiar with them.

The two I totally agree with you on and have wanted myself are Violent Love and the Slow Children stuff!

Yeah, that's weird. With all the TFF compilations, you figure they would have put it on one of them.

edit// GRRR, keep forgetting to use HTML instead of VB Code.

I'll always be grateful to Grunch for taking a special request and making a beautiful rip of Humans' "Happy Hour" LP and "Play" 12" promo EP. "I Live in the City" off the EP and "Get You Tonight" off the LP are giants of early SoCal new wave.

And I in turn will always be grateful to Blir for reminding me of this great long lost classic from my early ROQ days.

1. Maria (You Just Don't Know What You're Dealing With) - Burning Sensations
2. Home Of The Brave - The Nails
3. Shiny Shiny (12" mix) - Haysi Fantayzee (couldn't believe they left this off the recent CD of "Battle Hymns For Children Singing")
4. Why Take It Again - Minor Detail
5. Save A Prayer (the original album version) - Duran Duran
6. I Wanna Go Back - Billy Satellite (not really NW but whatever!)
7. Circus Ring - Vitamin Z
8. Where You Are I Am - Peter Schilling (both of his entire U.S. albums, actually)

"Vanessa Vacillating"! OMG! I'd completely forgotten that song. I think I always thought it was Sparks.

Some of the early-80s Seattle classics, which are rapidly fading from my memory:

Pudz--"Take Me to Your Leader"
?--Remake of "Take a Letter, Maria"
Red Dress--?

But at least I found "Rock and Roll Pest Control."

I'm not at home at the moment (out of town), but if I'm not mistaken Alleycat's "Nothing Means Nothing Anymore" is available on Rhino Records' "We're Desperate" from their DIY series (Los Angeles volume).

Let's see--songs not available on CD--

"Drop Your Pants"--Hillary

All Slow Children tracks but 7" "President Am I" (the only obtainable track by them)(and not 12" of that-- come on, we want the Missing Persons soundalikes. :) ).

"Quit"--The Waitresses

. . . and there are many others which I will post once I remember them. :)

I'm surprised no one mentioned Trees - "Sleep Covention" album.

Rheingold - 'Fan Fan Fanatic.' At least I've never seen it on CD. Maybe it came out in Germany on CD.

I've got both the LP version (actually the whole LP) and the remix of this song ripped. Let me know if you want it. BTW the remix version is outstanding

Salem 66 had a compilation CD called _Your Soul is Mine; Fork it Over_, which may still be in print. I'm also 75% certain that _Natural Disasters, National Treasures_ made it to CD.

But their best song, a live recording of "Red Barn", is on the Homestead _Human Music_ comp. I'm happy to share it, if there's interest.

5. Save A Prayer (the original album version) - Duran Duran

Is there that much difference from the version that is on the CD? I haven't listened to the vinyl in quite some time [:)].

Speaking of the Rio album, it would be nice if some of the Side A remixes were available on CD, especially "Lonely in Your Nightmares" with all the lyrics.

Nice page with all the differences from "Rio" for those who care:
