Six Degrees of Separation Game

Here's a new game we can play while we wait for the next installment of Name That Tune. It was inspired by a lady friend of mine who takes my love for new wave with a grain of salt. Anyway, you're all familiar with the Six Degrees of separation, where you have to get from one point to another in six steps, going from one point of commonality to another till you get to the last step? This is the one my lady friend proposed to me, and now I propose it to all of you (mind you, I haven't gotten my answers yet). Feel free to post answers in here (hopefully complete with reasons why you got from one degree to another), as I'm hoping that all answers will be different from each other, and there's no right or wrong. Here goes:

I thought the idea of the Six Degrees game was to get it in as FEW degrees as possible.
That said - Dave Gahan to Morrissey in TWO degrees:

1. Played on the "June 1, 1974" album with Kevin Ayers.
2. Later, Kevin Ayers' band included guitarist Steve Hillage, who was also in Gong.
3. Gong included bassist Mike Howlett.
4. Mike Howlett produced AFOS!
