Song of the Week

Greetings,

I am new here and this is my first post. Please, hold the applause.

Anyway, I am really happy that I found this website and I think it is fantastic. The forums also look excellent and it is obvious that there is a great group of forum member to thank for that.

What I really like is the Song of the Week feature. Most of the songs I have not heard before, but they are very good and I am enjoying the few that I have managed to download in the past few weeks since I have been visiting.

Now, what I am wondering is if there is anyway to get my hands on all the songs which seem to date back to 2000! I realize that mp3s are a little bit of a contentious issue, but I don't imagine I will be able to get a majority of those rare songs.

As a fundraising idea for the website, perhaps it would be possible to provide a CD with all the songs of the week for a donation. However, that may be crossing some lines.

If someone has collected all these songs, I would gladly cover the cost of CD media and shipping to get my hands on them. It would be refreshing to hear some not so mainstream music from the 80s.

Cheers and thanks for reading this post.

Welcome to the forum ... truly a great place to hang out and stay on top of all that's old and new, lost and found in new wave and 80's alternative! I actually did compile a special Song of the Week 200 CD-R last year which I made available for a nominal fee. Now that some 30+ have been added, I think it's fair to say that a number of board members probably have the entire collection available on the new wave hub. Go here for information on how to sign-up:
http://www.geocities.com/natephish/hub.html

I will make this collection available on the hub soon, but I had a hard drive crash (thankfully backed up) that has kept me off the hub for a few days now. Alternately, I could arrange to send you a CD-R set. Just let me know.

I know several people have tons of the songs of the week compiled on the hub. For the most recent registration info check this thread.

You'll also find tons of other obscure gems there too!

Wow, I was not expecting such quick responses. Thank you. The CD would be easiest, but I will try out the New Wave Hub first as it sounds very interesting. If I find that too tedious, I will bug you for a CD. :) Hopefully someone is sharing all the Songs of the Week as one big archive.

I read through Hub post on the forum and it said that you need to have made 25 posts. Will this be a problem? I am only on post 2.

Regards.

I've specifically compiled them onto "albums" in my hub "Comp" folder as NWO SOTW1 and SOTW2.
