I just won the Softies-Nice and Nasty lp on ebay and don,t know a whole lot about this band.I do know they were from the U.K and the lp is from the late 70,s.Any info will be appreciated.

There was a project band named Softies from Holland,in which Captain Sensible joined once.After Damned's first split in 1977, moved to Holland where they put out one single, based on Plastic Bertrand's ''Ca Plain Pour Moi'',as''Jet Boy Jet Girl''.Still don't know if they ever had a whole lp or its the same band you mention.

Great album with a confused punky identity adding also some art rock elements and even dramatic violin parts ala Bethnal and Doctors of Madness.Oddball late 70s curiosity exactly when pub rock transformed into aggressive new wave.

"Jet Boy ,Jet Girl" was by Elton Motello ?? see below...


"Elton Motello is both the moniker of Alan Ward (formerly a member of glam punk band Bastard along with Damned guitarist Brian James, Dez Lover and Nobby Goff), the lead singer and songwriter, and the name of the band itself.[1] Ward had toured Belgium with Bastard and through his connections there Motello debuted with the "Jet Boy, Jet Girl" single in 1977 on the Belgian Pinball label, initially backed by session musicians.[2] While the single made little impact (Except in Australia, where it was released on the RCA label and made the lower reaches of the Top Forty), the song formed the basis for Plastic Bertrand's internationally successful hit "Ça plane pour moi", with Bertand recording new lyrics over the backing track"

There's also a rumour that the backing band of Bertrand's remake of the song,were actually Elton Motello's musicians!The same-as its said-happens with the whole first lp of Plastic Bertrand which is simply terrific.
