Favorite song by a band you don't like otherwise

Ever have that, where a band has one song you totally dig, but you just can't get into the band? It's kind of funny because I'm sure the general public would consider most "New Wave" music to be that song, since so many NW artists are "one-hit-wonders" lol.

But since we mostly have different tastes, I'm interested in seeing what everyone else says here.

Fore me the song would probably be:

Shriekback - Underwaterboys

This song is totally awesome, but I can't really say I've ever liked any other Shriekback songs I've heard.

The The - Kingdom of Rain - really hard time getting into them despite trying
Divinyls - I Touch Myself - ditto above
Alice Cooper - Clones (We're All) - no need to explain this one I guess
Blow Monkeys - Digging Your Scene - it's quite the personal shame...but I can't help it!
Suicidal Tendencies - Institutionalized - kinda like firefall's Social D pick
The Members - Working Girl - nothing else in their catalog grabs me quite like this
The Mission UK - Like a Hurricane - again, nothing else grabs like this great cover
Klaus Nomi - Total Eclipse - I've come to the realization that I just don't like listening to him despite like him, his creativeness and his story

Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division.

I've tried to like them, really I have. I just can't get into them.

Also,
Stand & Deliver - Adam & the Ants
A Different Corner - Wham - does that fall under "guilty pleasure" though? I don't know many people who like Wham.
Boys in Town - Divinyls

Dude you're right! That's a great example. There seem to be tons of people who can't get into the JD thing. Of course if I could get you on a dance or concert floor to Transmission or lock you in a listening room to go over the nuances of Martin Hannett's groundbreaking mixing ala Wilderness, I bet I could convert ya. Don't tell me you don't beleive in conversion! [;)]

I suppose if I can admit to liking a Ween song anything is possible - even conversion!

I'm sure I know people who like Wham, but I don't know anyone who'll admit to it. [;)]

I have to admit that I like "Blue Collar Man" by Styx. Everything else of theirs is like ipecac to me.

And I agree with Wolvy on Joy Division.

OK Blir - I'll give you this - Transmission is a great song - I really like it. Seems like all of the Joy Division I heard was pretty dirge-like & that's really not my thing at all. I was under the impression that it was all like that.

This is an embarrassing one. I can't forking STAND Phil Collins. Not only does his music suck donkey but he's a total ass in person from all accounts I have heard.

However, he had a fluke with "In the Air Tonight". I resent liking it...I feel guilty liking it, yet I like it.

I'm also with you folks on Joy Division. I used to listen to a lot of them about 20 years ago when I was in college but they seem so overly dramatic that it's almost humorous to me. They have a small handful of ace songs (I'd add "She's Lost Control" to "Love Will Tear..." as a keeper) but overall I can't really get into them anymore. Pretty much the same w/ New Order. I like quite a few songs off "Power Corruption and Lies" and that's all I can take.
