New Wave Outpost Forum

Hello, longtime lurker here,

I'm wondering if any of you know of any good New Wave (or not) instrumentals. I'm making a playlist on Rhapsody and these are some of the ones I have already:

[b]Love & Rockets[/b] - Saudade
[b]Duran Duran[/b] - Tiger Tiger
[b]The Smiths[/b] - Oscillate Wildly
[b]Kool and the Gang [/b](I know, now NW, but really good song) - Summer Madness

Do you guys have any suggestions for others, especially if they're dreamy sounding?

There are lots of songs that had instrumental b-sides. The following are some of my faves:
Dream Academy - Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want
Erasure - Don't Say You Love Me
Tears for Fears - Woman in Chains
Hubert Kah - C'est La Vie
Level 42 - Lessons In Love

There's a couple of instrumentals on the Police's Zenyatta Mondatta album: "Behind My Camel" and "The Other Way of Stopping".

It's been a long time since I pulled out any Cocteau Twins albums, and I can't remember which songs, if any, are instrumentals. But in general, their music is dreamy. Elizabeth Fraser's vocals are so etherial that they should count as an instrument.

I haven't listened to the Police in so long I forgot they had any instrumentals. I will check out all of these recommendations.

I agree that Liz Fraser's voice is almost an instrument. Cocteau Twins are one of my faves.

I also have a song on the playlist from [b]The Durutti Column[/b] called Otis which is an awesome song but it has a bit of vocals in it (I wish it didn't). Unfortunately Rhapsody only has a live version of Otis, but still, it's a good one.
