Name That Tune: 50 Years of Rock & Roll - Results

Postby Frau_Blucher » Thu Dec 15, 2005 9:20 am

It's been 50 years since the first #1 Rock & Roll Single. Let's celebrate that first "alternative" song and one each from each year since with this 50 Years of Rock & Roll NTT. There's no real dance, electro, blues, jazz, etc. New Wave will be emphasized in the years where applicable. It's otherwise anything somewhat "alternative" Rock/Pop. The early stuff might not seem very alterno, but I'm sure it must have been then. Since we gotta cover that first single plus 50 years, there's nothing crazy exotic here...well maybe a couple zingers. But this will be fun!

There's an MP3 with a total of 51 song clips and 2 seconds of silence between each. Just guess the Title and Artist. The year of each is provided. The game is on a 102 point basis (1 point each for title and artist). Download the response form below and email it to me after you're done (my email is in the form). Make sure to include your forum name so I know who you are. I'll immediately send back the Score and Answer Sheet to each respondent. Please remember NOT to post your responses here!

Here's the link for the response form, right-click to download:

Here's the clips link, right-click to download:
The NTT 50 Sampler

The game will end on Sunday January 1st at 9PM EDT 2006!

Good luck, have fun and Merry New Year!

Right-Click and choose to download it rather than listen to it inline. I'm getting the whole thing fine on both my Mac and PC.

Yes, no, maybe, Dan??

Game Update

After a cool start, we had a weekend warmup where the average kept ballooning to an impressive 71 then 72.6 then an impressive 74 before finally to pull back to 71. There's definately some gimme's here, but you'll have to be adept at both the old and the new to score high. Also a little trouble with some name-brand bands that must have been slightly out of their normal chronological context - Bwaaahahahah!

I know it's a hectic season, but try this out for a good break. Cheers.

PS. Please note the correction to my email on the blank form - if I haven't responded with your score, I haven't seen your responses.

Game Update - Final Week

It was mostly a quiet holiday weekend with a couple of good entries. The average currently sits at 67 so you'll hopefully feel there's some fun easy ones mixed in with a few stumpers. Hope you get a chance to play before the Sunday 01/01/06 deadline when we'll be ringing in the new year by bestowing The NWO Music Through The Ages Maestro Crown...or something like that...and it's not really a crown..and I have no power to bestow. But play anyway!

Please remember NOT to post your responses here.

Going into the final weekend, the average has risen again to about 71. I know there's a couple fo stragglers working on this still - don't forget!

Thanks to you, Blir for all the hard work you put into these NTTs. They are a lot of fun. Now to order British Sea Power on Amazon....[;)]
