One of my favourite genres in film and literature, it can make for some good music as well. A few that come to mind are:

- 'Running Away' by Strange Advance
- 'Nor Crystal Tears' by Strange Advance
- 'P-Machinery' by Propaganda

I guess Limahl's 'Neverending Story' would qualify as fantasy. What others can you think of?

I loved Gigantor by The Dickies. It validated that there were others who loved this short-lived series. They continue the SF theme with Killer Clowns From Outer Space.

I'm not sure how Space Age Love Song is really about space, so don't know if that counts. Not quite sure how The Black Hit of Space by the Human League fits either. Vicious Pink's The Spaceship Is Over There is definately spacey but it's got no lyrics so again I'm at a loss. Different songs called Alien by both 20/20 and Japan were very spacey, but they're maybo more about alienation? But Space Oddity definately counts!

Everything Planet P (Project) did. Since Planet P was Tony Carey, I suppose some might consider Planet P to be not-new wave.

Side two of Platinum Blonde's Alien Shores is science fiction in theme, from what I can remember. To continue with the Canadian tip (as in the first post), how about Saga? If not, at least their album covers are SciFi [:)].

Hell, just about everything they did was either lyrically sci-fi related or at least had a soaring, sci-fi sound to it.

"Half Machine Lip Moves", "Slip it to the Android", etc. etc.

One of the great underrated bands of all time.

Lots of solo Helios Creed applies too.

Shox Lumania
this band operated on the premise that the members were Lumanians from the planet Lumania.
They had a number of personnel changes thru the years, but the frontman was Lari Shox, originally with Man Parrish. Also included was Lenny Kaye's wife ?Stephanie, and later on Richard Bone, and Alan and Robin DiPernia (hope I spelled that right). They had a very theatrical presentation, with space costumes. Their only commercially released single was Signals ("sending out signals"), with Shoes on the flip. Sadly, Lari Shox passed away in the mid-80s.

Not to mention The Danse Society with their cover of the Rolling Stones' "2000 Lightyears From Home".

I should also mention Alphaville's "Afternoons in Utopia". Many of the songs had a futuristic, sci-fi theme to them.

This is a pretty subjective topic, as George Michaels posturing as a macho-ladies-man on 'Bad-Boys' could be considered fantasy....
