I'm looking for New Wave songs that mention, cover or have anything to do with the theme of "fashion". Clothing, accessories, makeup - anything.

Goodbye Seventies by Yaz comes immediately to mind.....

Any help here? Cheers, thanx alot [;)]

There's always "Love Shadow" by Fashion...[;)]

How about "The Great Ones Rermember" by Men Without Hats
("when the clothes that your're wearing are hurting my eyes..")

Or the Talking Heads' Life during Wartime
("I changed my hairstyle, so many times now,I don't know what I look like")

You could even throw a Depeche Mode song on there since their name is derived from the fashion world...

You're totally right! Blue Dress off the Violator album comes immediately to mind. New Dress, Dressed In Black... Also, what about the Pet Shop Boys' Shopping? The Boy Who Could'nt Keep His Clothes On? And then there's Sinead's The Emperor's New Clothes. Great suggestions everyone! Keep 'em coming [8D]

Lambrettas - Nobody's Watching Me.

Very appropriate song for the period. Although I always think the main thing about the first half of the 80s at least is that despite the weird looks sometimes the music was really the main thing. The music sometimes looked at the style of the period in the subject or the style of the lyrics and of course the videos were all about a visual expression of the music (anyone noticed how many of the videos feature mirrors or seem to project the image of the singer in some way like that - exploring identity in some way). But it is all about expressing the music, not replacing it or trying to make up for it being weak.
