I really didn't consider him a New Wave artist when he first started out.To me he sounded like he was trying to cash in on Tom Petty's success at the time with his I'm On Fire hit.It was until his album with the hit Girls when he went more in a New Wave Power Pop style.I really didn't care much for his early material.If he had started out to be more like Phil Seymour,I probably would have liked his music from the start.Seymour just seemed to be the more talented of the two.

I'm sure none of you really ever considered Dwight Twilley as a New Wave artist from the onset did you?

No, I never considered him as new wave. More of a power pop type like Phil Seymour, Dave Edmunds, Marshall Crenshaw, and Donnie Iris. I think his music is really good. "Tulsa" is a great cd!
