I just love Desireless - Francois album.. from around 1989. Tons of great songs on it (John, Animal,Hari om Eamakrishna, Voyage Voyage and many others)... 12 super songs to be exact.
Are there any other good French artists like that?

I second that with Desireless. The cd single with Voyage Voyage (Britmix) is really good.

Right on!! Daft Punk, Air, Etienne de Crecy for more club dance numbers. Lots of Lounge or Chill Out deejays and artists coming out of France too. Vanessa Paradiso - now that's sassy! Serge Gainsbourg is pretty good fun too. And how about Stereolab? Just about anything they do is just yummy to me [:p]

FR David was also great in the 80's.... i think he's French but sings in English
Daft Punk.... I did not like much. ....From today's stuff Daddy DJ is a fun disco band
But I still have not heard anything as good as Desireless. Supposedly that composer Jean Michel Rivat also wrote stuff for other French artists including Joe Dassin.
