Did anybody here ever "cash-in" with the opposite sex (or same sex for that matter)by looking like an eighties musical celebrity. The "has anybody ever told you look like..." syndrome.

I used to get called Billy Idol all the time back in high school, but I had a steady girlfriend so I never used it to my advantage.

Now I get called Drew Carrey.

When I was in my early 20s, someone told me that I looked like Tom Cruise. So I beat the holy shit out of them.

None taken at all. My hair is a wee bit longer now (what hair still grows that is!)

But face it, to the general public a fat blonde guy with glasses looks like Drew Carey. Now if I could only find a hot woman who thinks Mr. Carey is cute I'd be in business!

When I was in high school I have a classmate who really idolizes DAVE GAHAN of DEPECHE MODE so as much as he would really try his best to take care of his hair. He even tries to imitate DAVE's vocals style.[;)]

Looking at the picture thread, I've realised that Motors had an Ian McCulloch air back in the 80s!!! [:D] I imagine you were pretty popular among female audiences back then.

In high school it was is Catherine O'Hara (when she was the mom in Beetlejuice). In my adult life, I get Jennifer Tilly when I had black hair and Jewel with blonde. Not really anyone new wave, tho.

I had a couple of Clare Grogan comparisons when I was in HS. No Way could I ever be as cute as her, though !

I used to get "Corey Hart" all the time, but now people tell me I look like Tommy Lee Jones. How the mighty have fallen, eh?

Look like Black Francis/Frank Black, when I was younger and a little bit more overweight, although I've met him, can pass as his brother, he's definately BIGGER than I, been asked for his autographs numerous times before. Also walked right back dtage at both his gigs he played in Orange County, California, to boot!!! [:D]

Also, some old folks thought I was Rush Linbaugh [xx(][:(][V][:(!]
asking for autographs, and they were funking convinced that I was him, followed me all throughout the mall asking me for an autograph... too bad I didn't have any pain killers to give 'em! [}:)][:p][^]
