Anyone remember Robin Gibb's attempt to cross into Top 40 New Wave in 1984 with the song "Boys Do Fall In Love"? I remember hearing it on the radio, and trying to figure out who it was...very surprised to realize it was one of the Bee Gees.

Lame cover on the single (see link), but the song would be interesting to hear. I love it when mainstream artists like Shaun Cassidy, Alice Cooper, .38 Special etc. try to go "new wave".

It looks like the "Secret Agent" CD sells for $100 or more. lol

Which was the video of his that had the futuristic space theme? Was that this? Or was it "Juliet?" I reckon I better brush up for the next NTT Video round.

Yeah, I remember it. I remember it wasn't all that good.

I have that CD actually. I don't think he made any attempt whatsoever to sound new wave, that was never his focus. He just recorded a pop tune, that's all, and a decent one at that. Not sure why this is misconstrued as an attempt to sound new wave. Actually, 3/4 of the bands ever mentioned on this whole site are not really new wave, they just may have recorded during the "new wave" era which itself is rather subjective. As for Robin Gibb, just a pop song, nothing more, nothing less.
