What I mean by vintage-- is actually the sounds dating to the 20's-30s-

Noteably... the vintage jazz backing to the chorus in Barry Manilow & Kid Creole - Hey Mambo.
.... Some Kinda like the more romantic pop that The Other Ones did.

Thanks to Myirwin who go me interested in The Other Ones..both their albums rock like crazy.

I guess you could include Taco in there...If you include him, forget I mentioned him...mentioning him at a new wave community seems to be a stoning offence.

I wouldn't date the influence to the 20's-30's era, but the Lounge Lizards were a bunch of post-punk types in the early 80's who played jazz, more in the 40's-ish bebop vein.

James Chance also played around with mixing the roughness of punk with jazz..

Romann Holliday (the exact spelling's escaping me now) were certainly a group with new wave leanings that used "swing" style music... you know, now that I think about it, I'm surprised none of their songs came back during that whole 'Swing/Gap Khakis/Bria
