New Wave Outpost Forum

Im 17, all my friends either listen to Rap, Grunge, or Punk. They just don't understand the New Wave music that I like so much. They lump it into corny 80s music. They say it's so fake. I came here to find people who know what I'm talking about when I say that New Wave is a breath of fresh air, the best music ever. Music just doesnt have that good crazy feeling anymore! I wish I lived in the 80s so I could get messed up and go to the dance clubs that play my music!!

I'm 18 and I'm mad about New Wave. I don't think it's corny and I try to teach my friends about it because for me it's the most important movement in Rock and Pop music's history.
Love for 80s music it's in the heart not in the age you have.

Totally forgot to say that I'm lucky that Requiem (a disco in Buenos Aires) exists.... if not, there wouldn't be a place where I could really feel in my salsa (=environment). [8D]
My birthday is not that far and I'm taking all my friends there to the 80s specials that they make all Fridays.

I remember a conversation just like this nearly 20 years ago. Some of my friends were big into the 60's-early 70's music, Hendrix, Cream, Aerosmith, etc. and thought that new wave music was crap. I like a lot of the 60's stuff, but new wave just hit the right spot for me. It's a shame that there isn't any Top 40 music being made today that comes close to the feeling new wave music had in the 80's. Theres nothing quite like playing Dig Dug while the arcade speakers are playing "I Ran". Took it for granted at the time, but those were great days to be a teenager.

Yeah, as a ninteen-year-old, I don't meet too many New Wave fans. No, it's pretty much just my younger brother and me.

Then again, I have no friends. Taste the sad.

hey guys my fisrt post, i'm 20 been get right into my 80's music for about 4 years and thinking they dont make new wave too much anymore and ya get sick of hearing the same stuff all time, i think the killers have some real good new wave sounding stuff, but i know what you guys mean, i know a few people that listen to it, just have to have abit of intellect to get into it aye[:D]

In all seriousness, I'm glad you guys are into new wave. I can't pay my employees to like it. They'd rather listen to DMX or some other (c)rapper with initials or prison numbers instead of names.

I've been trying to get people of my age into NW.. the only one that seems to react well to my advice is my friend Vaz. He's into The Cure and Depeche Mode now... but he had the base: he likes NIN and Marilyn Manson (so do I). Anyway, he's the industrial one and I'm the new wave side of the group.
