Egg-roger,

Great song! I have never heard of The Black Watch, and after reading their biography on their own site (it's actually just one guy now) and on AllMusic, I am going to have to sample some more from this interesting band. Anyone characterized as "America's answer to the Go-Betweens" is worth a listen. And the main guy is an English professor in Southern California, no less.

I know a lot of folks disparage Kim's later material as disposable Dance Pop, but once in a while she sneaks out a haunting Synthpop gem like this one as a import-only B-Side. It kinda reminds me of something Michael Cretu would produce for Sandra.

As mentioned, I'm buckling and posting two more "One Great Songs"! [:I]

First is another KROQ classic from early 80s Austin TX band D-Day who had two near hits with the very very very classic "Right to Know" which I've posted before and this rather different song, "Too Young to Date". This track is very reminiscent of Suburban Lawns and Sue Tissue in both style and somewhat rude content...but I love it:

Okay, everyone I'm sold. I'm cheating like a few others by including two and committing a form of blasphemy by dipping into the 90's![:I]

Here are two rare tracks from the vastly underrated Real People, who created some spine tingling Britpop in the early 90's but were eclipsed by their peers like The La's and Oasis. These two cuts come from a rare, limited edition 4-track 7" single of "The Truth" from 1991 (a great, great song from their self-titled album BTW).
