Stupid (or Good) Pet Tricks

Anyone's dog or cat (or other pet) have a good trick, the one that never ceases to get you [i]oooh[/i]ing and [i]ahhh[/i]ing ? Let's hear about it!

My late cat Rex used to fetch. I always thought that was kind of weird.

heh, cats fetching.

My chocolate Lab, Hamlet, will fetch [i]ANYTHING[/i]...not just balls, but balled up paper, socks, paper airplanes, you name it. he will fetch until he falls over (or your arm falls off).

My little cat, Clawdius, will stand on his hind legs, reach his front legs up, and "ask" to be picked up. He mostly does this for Mr. Hex, not so much for me.

My old cocker-spaniel did a really cool trick- she was eating Nilla Wafers directly from the box, got her head stuck inside the plastic wrapper inside the box and keeled over and passed out right in front of me with the box over her head. She didn't die, nor did she die when she ate a loaf of bread or a complete tube (tube and all) of Desitin. I'm not sure if it gets more stupid than that! She eventually died of old age- she was awesome!

My cat, Lillian, has the ability to stand perfectly still while I brush backwards her fur. Then, she'll roll over so that I can rub her belly. She is my dogcat.

Not so much a talent, but more of a "what the hell?"

My dog is afraid of people... so she's very shaky and nervous. However, she rolls over.

Hex, what an adorable cat!

I taught my male cat to kiss my chin. Cats normally try to bite and I did get bitten a few times while he was learning. I taught him to disregard his teeth while moving his lips against my skin. Very cute and he's very affectionate.

My father-in-law taught my old female cat (she was 13 at the time) to press the space bar on the keyboard while he's playing an online game. She learned it so well that now at age 18, she still MUST be on my lap while I'm at the computer, trying to hit the space bar while I'm keyboarding.

hex, those are some Crazy claws on Mr. Clawdius, good heavens ! But he is a looker.

I grow a lot of catnip in our yard, for any neighborhood cats who happen to wander by and wanna have a roll. There have not been so many cats since we've had our 2 Labs for 6 yrs. now, but I just love watching a cat under the influence of 'nip. Hilarious!

My dog does very little that requires brains. He does let meknow when he wants a rawhide as opposed to a regular old biscuit. He'll hit his nose against the thing I keep the rawhides in.

Sometimes when he's laying on the couch with me, if one of his legs falls over the side, he'll reach over, grab the leg in his mouth & pull it back up. I guess it never ocurred to him that his legs really don't need help moving.

He once beat up a woodchuck & stopped when I yelled at him...that was good...[:D]

Our basset hound does not like to be left alone. When we come home after leaving her alone for 2 to 3 hours she gets all upset. She barks at us and if I didn't know better, it sounds as if she's saying "where were you" then runs around the living room like it's a race track. Great dog.
