I don't. I am so sick of hearing this name and seeing every yuppie reading it and getting excited about a shitty movie. what is the mass appeal???? Why are we sheep to every fad that the media shoves down our throat?

I'll never watch the stupid movie or read the book but I am absolutely loving the irony of a bunch of clowns with nothing better to do attacking a work of fiction for being disrespectful of another work of fiction. [:D][:D][:D]

Given the ongoing scandal and suspicion surrounding the Catholic Church, this type of fodder taps right into the current popular appetite for heady spun tales of ideological conspiracy and intrigue.

While I never read The Da Vinci Code, back in the early 90's I was party to a similar groundswell of interest surrounding another best selling similarly themed new age yarn <a href="http://homestar.org/bryannan/celistin.html" target="blank">'The Celestine Prophecy'</a> (It read more like a spiritual self help book IMO)

Incidentally, a long awaited though <a href="http://www.thecelestineprophecymovie.com/celestine/trailers/index.php" target="blank">B movie adaptation</a> is slated for release any time now.

I wonder how much additional popular fervor it would have garnered if it had been released on the crest of the book's popularity back then with a marquee director at the helm (Spielberg, Zemeckis etc..)

I read the book and much of the background material back when it was all the rage. Now I'm quite bored of it all and not terribly interested in seeing the movie.

I did not read the book but I did go see the movie and it was quite good. It was trendy to read the book and now it's trendy to bash the film? I think Ron Howard did a great job at directing it. I saw alot of similarities with this movie and A beautiful mind.

Apparently, about a gazillion people care since the book sold 8 trillion copies and seemingly half the U.S. population went to see it opening weekend (I have read the book-entertaining....have not seen the movie).

I read the book. I thought that while it wasn't the best written book I've ever read...it certainly presented a lot of fascinating ideas. I plan on seeing the movie..probably this weekend.

Of corse we in New Hampshire have been following the writings of Dan Brown for years because he lives here. At his 2003 book signing when the "DaVinci Code" first came out...he told the group that he was happy with the advance paid by the publisher because he could afford to buy a new home.

Now he's worth $20 million and putting a fence around said home because too many fanatics and crazies are hanging around his property.

I just jumped in here to say I care so little I don't know why a thread was even started about it. And perfect that it stars Tom Hanks. I HATE HATE HATE Tom Hanks with an undying passion of every fiber of my being.

Only if nobody finds out. I'd gladly fool around with someone hot thats way older than me....and not say a single word about it.

Its the sound and feeling of a mutual lust fest between two 15 year olds. "what, no smoking?"
