O.k. guys, you are very well versed in music. So can you name songs that mix new wave and another style of music? An example could be classical, opera, or jazz. I prefer classical.

Not exactly what you're looking for (it's techno mixed w/ classical)but you may want to check out Apotheosis' O Fortuna. Can't think of anything else at the moment.

Tons of new wave groups messed about with jazz - - James Chance and the Contrortions and the Lounge Lizards come to mind, as does early Everything but the Girl

Marc Almond has a reworking of Debussy (from Trois Chansons De Bilitis) on Tenement Symphony.

And obviously, Art Of Noise 'The Seduction of Claude Debussy' [|)]

For jazz, Tommy Chase 'Killer Joe' comes to mind

Malcolm Mclaren also had a CD called "Waltz Darling" which had classical elements all over it especially the tracks "House of the Blue Danube" and "Algernon's Simply Awful Good At Algebra." He also started the whole Vogue thing on this disc before Madonn

X usually had a lot of country mixed in with their punk sound. Blondie, the B-52s, and XTC had a lot sixties influences in their music. The Cocteau Twins and Klaus Nomi had a lot of opera in their songs. New wave and punk bands were generally more open

Joe jackson played around with classical and opera.
Electronic- the song getting away with it had a great classical begining on the cd before the actual song started.
