Trance Dance

Interesting if anyone heard this band from Sweden... virtually unknown outside that country. 2 Great and rare 80's albums of catchy rock-synth stuff sung in English, "A Ho Ho" and "Dancing in the Shadow" (I think 86 and 88 respectively). There is also album "Twang" from 1990, but I never heard it.
Like Alphaville mixed with Roxette.... a bit similar to Cure, maybe Adam and the ants, but much much catchier, fun and melodic.

Anyone ever heard of them?

I've heard of them. I spent the mid-80's in Germany and they played "Do The Dance" frequently at one of the clubs I used to go to. Great song. That and "Joy Toy" are the only songs of theirs I'm familiar with though.

In fact, someone posted an mp3 of "Joy Toy" a few days ago . What are the odds of 2 Trance Dance threads in one week? [:D]

Electric motors, awesome! Great that someone knows about this band. they are very good.... I think the reason they never hit it in US/UK is because of lyrics... maybe? Looks like they were pretty big in Sweden though... the guy who wrote music and sang is Ben Marlene.


I did not know that they made it in Germany. Yes, Joy Toy is a terrific tune... the whole 2nd album "Dancing in the Shadows" (1988) is great.... absolutely no filler at all (but my fave song from it is Faroutaway) [:)]
"Do the Dance" is from their 86 debut A Ho Ho.... tons of great stuff on it (my fave Come play with Me) [:)]

Yep, cool band fromt he 80's early 90's. I have all 3 of their CDs. Their 2nd "Dancing In The Shadows", is the best.

They`re also known over the border, but they where never big here in Norway. It`s not one of my favorites, but have to admit that I`ve got two of their singles so I guess I did like them back then. Great to see/hear them again

Thanks for the Trance Dance youtube posts.From what I remember of Trance Dance,and my memory is not that great anymore of them,was that they had more of a Dead Or Alive sound which was very fast and upbeat.I will check out their videos over at youtube just to hear if my memory of them was correct or not of them.Speaking of Swedish New Wave bands from the 80's does anyone remember and recall the band Lolita Pop at all? What was the single from their only US album that was taken from off of their Virgin LP in 1987,and what was the video from that album? Was it the song Mess Of Machinery?

Their US-release i 1987 was`nt a success. Maybe it`s Tarzan On A Big Red Scooter or Hey Winner your thinking of. Like the great band Imperiet they`re much better in swedish
