I finally did it. I had MTV removed from my channel line up. Times have really changed.

Wow, that article really shows the change in MTV! I don't remember anything quite like what is on there now. I haven't taken it off my lineup, but my kids only get one hour to watch their favorite shows, and so far, they have been pretty clean-cut shows

MTV Networks own website states: MTV focuses on music fans in their teens and twenties." They don't want your 12 and under kids watching and neither should you. "Room Raiders - College Edition" is no more suitable for your kids than an afternoon soap.

Duran Duran was sophistication. The Eurythmics were too. Now if I wanted to get a video played, I'd have to follow what the current ones do. when was the last time you've ever seen a REAL punk rock or synth band on MTV, NOT MTV2,3,4,5,or 600? JoJo is okay

I blocked MTV from my daughters set 3 years ago. I also blocked BET. Both networks had nothing but crotches , breasts and asses shakin on the screen and "songs?" about whores and drugs. Yeah , maybe times have changed but I am certainly not helping it alo

It sucks that that crap could get played on the air but a "alternative" band would have to fight to get played! we're not exactly being represented right now. maybe the killers but the rest aren't doing much.

I find it odd that you'd approve of Duran Duran. Their "Girls on Film" video was banned from MTV. They wore women's make-up. Annie Lennox was androgynous. I think if these bands came out today you'd be keeping your kids from them.
