Do you like Nashville Pussy (the band)?[:D] I've seen them twice. Excellent live band.

They blew through Knoxville last year and were definitely a kick-ass live band. It's too bad their studio cd's don't have the same energy.

It's our local annual fair this weekend. Red will get a kick out of this...38 Special was the featured musical guest! I didn't get to attend (I'll just have to get over it), but I think they and the great weather might have contributed to a record weekend for our charity. I chair the annual corn dogs, chili dogs, and fried dough sell-a-thon and can't ever remember humping it so hard for 18 straight hours Saturday. 38 Special...I salute you! [:o)]

[I can only wish for someone like Devo...although Joan jett was here a couple of years ago]

Ahhh. .38 Special. When I saw that this thread appeared on teh first page of teh forum, and had 38 responses, I just knew there had to be at least twenty of them that were people ripping on them because they weren't 'new wave' and they had a ton of success...two key ingrediants for being ridiculed on this board.

Well, obviously, you won't hear any keyboards on a typical 38 Special song, but if you like great guitar riffs and plenty of soaring choruses with hooks out the ass, they will certainly fit the bill.

Back Where You Belong, If I'd Been The One, You Keep Running Away, and Somebody Like You were all great songs, along with the usual suspects like Hold On Loosely and Caught Up In You. Hell, I think I'll put a few of their tunes on right now.

I actually saw some good-natured humor as well as some support. Oh yeah...and your whiny needle-dicked wet towel of a response too of course.

You still don't seem to realize that this is the NEW WAVE OUTPOST, where people come to discuss NEW WAVE music. It's an outpost against the onslaught of all crap 80s music.

You only know people from what they post. I thought this thread had some good-natured banter. I didn't see anyone having problems with it...end of story. You however wanted to come in late and make it (and several other posts it seems) part of your personal persecution complex about marginally "new wave" crap music. It's old.

Ummmm, actually mine was 'good-natured' as well. As they all are.

No kiddin'. 38 Special ! Give me a break. Now, what was it we were talking about before this ? oh yeah... Cass Elliot. Sure , she was a bit on the heavy side but where would the Mama's and the Papa's be without her great vocals.

I never cared for the Mama's & Papa's until Vince Clarke produced their new wave album in the seventies. Elliott's quirky, Devo-like vocals showed amazing range.

Hang in there, at this rate it'll be posted by the end of the week. Ethel Merman...disco; smacks of 80s New Wave to me.

*edit*...OK, here is Everything's Coming Up Roses because it can't be worse than .38 Special. Soulseek never ceases to amaze.
