Hot Chip?

Discussions about the new generations of bands influenced by '80s New Wave and Postpunk

Hot Chip?

Postby DonGately » Mon Jun 25, 2007 1:49 am

Does anyone have an opinion pro or con about this group? They've done some great remixes for Architecture in Helsinki and Amy Winehouse. I just saw on iTunes that they have a number of releases of their own material. There's a definite NW influence in some of the tracks I've previewed. Can anyone recommend or warn against their albums?

New Hot Chip album is out on 4, February! 'Made in Dark' is rockier as they say but with all the usual electric elements. "Shake A Fist" has already been released in 2007.

Big fan of Hot Chip. Definitely looking forward to the new album. The DFA Remix of Just Like We Breakdown is crazy. And so is Erol Alkan's Rework of Boy From School.

Excellent band.. its reported that Green Gartside is writing with them for next Scritti album. Excellent to hear Green again in a synth setting.

Bought the new cd, and have given it one listen. I like it, but there's no wow factor yet.

Except for "Ready for the Floor"

Hmm, after watching the above video, the music sounds okay, but to quote Frankie Wilde: They look like a couple of cunts.

Agreed. A couple of entertaining bits surrounded by a lot of yawns.
