Tony Snow.......RIP

Hating bush or republicans isn't a moniker of the far-left of the political fringes. If you read any presidential performance polls for the past few years, you'll realize that it is a solidly mainstream activity-- so much so, in fact that [i]liking[/i] Bush is more reliable indicator of a viewpoint on the political fringe.

I gave my fairest opinion of the guy, based on his service to the Bush white house. I think he was very good at serving the ends of the Bush administration, which for me, his legacy is chained to. The Bush administration believes that during a military conflict the office of the president is above the law, that no action by Congress or the Judicial Branch can hold him to account, and that the electorate has but one moment (the general election) to endorse or reject his authority. And all through these years, Tony Snow was one of the guys who would look straight at the television camera every day and say, "Move along folks, there's nothing to see here. I will tell you what you need to tell the American people. Any version of events other than the President's is misinformed, irresponsible and/or unpatriotic."

I realize that's just his job to do be that liar guy, but it's not like Tony didn't swallow that whole Bush party line. Tony was a Bush true-believer-- the equivalent of OT level 8 in Scientology, only slightly more grounded in reality. So even if Tony was a patriot and hero to many fans, at the end of the day, I still regard a guy like that as a douche. And he was.
