I know you are probably getting around to it but if you can post #16 up again, that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Here's Tape#16 (from 1987):
This has the last minutes of Spitzer's LIR before Jarid took the helm at 92.7.
However, I may have some other stuff on reel-to-reel; not sure.
Someday, I get around to it.

motnow,

I just found this thread and unfortunately was only able to download 1 - 5, 11, 12, 15 and 16 as the other links have expired. These recordings are great! Is it too much trouble to re-post the rest? Most of the ones you posted on sendspace have expired. I'd love to have the rest. I listened to LIR from the early 80's on. I'd love to find some of the stuff Ben Manilla did in the morning. I smiled every time he played the Magilla Gorilla theme song. I have all this music but hearing it like this is a blast. Thank you so much for sharing this!!!

1999 WLIR Tape#44

Here's another tape from the collection.
Although actually from the "Resurrection Sunday" broadcast in 1999, this
recording has clips from the early nu-wave days of LIR.

I find most of the tapes posted in these threads disturbing to listen to due to all the chopped up dj intros, edited out commercials, beginnings of songs missing or songs and dj's abruptly cut off at the end, etc.

Yes I know what you mean. It kinda takes a bit away from the whole picture. Just speaking for myself....I made a lot of tapes this way. Back then, I was a college kid on a budget and I remember trying to muster up anough money to buy more blank TDK-SAx tapes. I initial intention was to record only what I wanted just so I can play them back while I was away at college. I had to conserve the free tape and not waste it on songs I didn't care for or Crazy Eddie and SkiStop ads as an example. Don't know about you, but I was only able to take so much of those ads; and to put it down on tape so it woulf inadvertantly be played over and over wasn't gonna fly. Plus I didn't want to make repeat records of the same songs that may have been in high rotation at the time.
So...WHHIWYG...
